peter cusack – sounds from dangerous places
we begin a new experiment with this edition in the form of a more long-term and direct collaboration with radio aporee and their great soundmaps: as a regular contributor, framework is anyway in the habit of listening to new sounds as they arrive on the map, so with this edition we have chosen a few favrorites from the last two weeks to include (as allowed under their creative commons licenses) in the show. we think it worked rather well, and we’ll be continuing the experiment at least over the next several regular editions. this week’s contributions come from udo noll (the maintainer of the maps himself), petra kapš, andrej hrvatin, john grzinich, frank schulte, and sala.
along with the aporee sounds we heard a few online releases, ryoko akama’s nutopia on the spanish (?) reductive music label (not to be confused with the german reduktive musiken label), and lee noyes and radio cegeste’s collaboration on the idealstate recordings label. we topped this off with two nice physical releases, the impressive book & 2cd release by peter cusack chronicling his exploration of sounds from dangerous places (we heard tracks from disc 1, chernobyl, and will explore disc 2, caspian oil and uk sites, next time), and another untitled slab of sound from francisco lópez, this time on the portuguese crónica electronica label.
Two new releases for late May - the long-awaited 'dhialogue' project and a suite of sax/drum duos with liverpool's phil hargreaves... to celebrate (and to generate income for ltd-run physical release) I'm offering a 50% discount on all idealstate downloads until 1st May, incl recordings w/ Radio Cegeste, Motoko Kikkawa, Barry Chabala + more... just type 'aprilsale' in the prompt box. Thanks for your support!
