Max Verstappen is assigned as the race engineer for the newest Red Bull driver, Charles Leclerc.
Both being stubborn to the core, clashed from the very first meeting and as they try to work together without ripping each other's throats out, other feelings also begin to blossom.

Radio Check - Chapter 8 is out!
“Charles, I – ” Max hesitated. He really wanted to make sure he was voicing his thoughts properly. “Of course I’m not angry at you. I just want the best for you okay?”
He let those words hang in the air for a few seconds before saying. “And if you think this training camp is good then you should go.”
“We had plans this summer,” Charles pointed out with a bittersweet smile.
“Yeah,” Max said with a weak chuckle. “Plans can change. And hey, it doesn’t mean we can’t text or call?” He tried to lift Charles’s spirits. “Maybe I could even come visit you in Mallorca,” he proposed with a hopeful glance.
Charles finally cracked his own smile, albeit small. “I’d like that.”
SIDE NOTE: I've just stopped posting sneak peaks because I literally write and post these chapters on the same day? This fic has hands down been so easy and fun to write. I sometimes need to stop myself from rambling so much.
Sneak Peak for Chapter 9 - Radio Check!
“Hey, look at me please.” Charles whispered.
Max brought his eyes back to Charles. His beautiful green eyes.
Max loved looking at them. He loved it when they sparkled mischievously. He loved it when they became a little misty after intense sex. He loved Charl —
He didn’t let himself finish that thought and instead focused on Charles once again.
“I said that back then to rile you up. I did not actually believe it." Charles was gently carding his fingers through his hair, ruffling it a bit and Max couldn't help leaning into the touch.
"Well, not really anyway.” Charles added, giggling lightly. Max felt a warm smile spread across his own face at the sweet sound.
“Max I lo —” Charles paused once again. “I really like you. You have no idea how much. So please — please just don't think otherwise. And don't let those comments get to you. Okay?”
A moment passed before Max whispered back just as softly. “Okay.”
*Also wanted to apologise for missing last week's update :(( but hopefully this extra long chapter will make up for it (it'll be out Mon - Wed)
I also might add an extra chapter? unsure yet, but I want to do an epilogue and have a proper send off for these characters (why am i emotional 😭). If I do add an extra chapter, I won't keep you waiting for long! It will be up within a few days of chapter 10 being up.
If you have made it this far, can you please pray for a miracle and hope that Lestappen gets a podium in Singapore? 🙃
Radio Check? Loud and Clear! - Chapter 3 Sneak Peak 😊
When he realised that he had Max’s attention, Charles started talking but kept his head hung low.
“I wanted to apologise. For ignoring your orders.”
Max just stared blankly at him. That apology was the bare minimum. Max needed more here.
Charles cleared his throat and stuttered out, “Um. I just, in that moment, I just, I really thought I could get Sainz and I…I thought Yuki would get by somehow. I really am sorry.”
Again it was a lousy excuse.
When it became clear that Max was not convinced, Charles took a deep breath in and finally lifted his face and made eye contact with Max. His eyes looked sunken, his complexion completely pale but his voice was resolute. “I promise. Okay. I promise I will listen going forward.”
Then in a barely audible voice, Charles asked, no begged.
“But please don't give up on me just yet. Please Max.”

Radio Check - Chapter 5 Sneak Peak
“And Max…”
Max whipped his head up to see Charles looking directly at him. A smile dancing on his lips as he continued speaking, “He spent long hours running through some extra sim work with me. That really helped with the management of tyres.”
Max swallowed very hard. He didn’t really expect a special shout out from Charles. But it definitely spread warmth through his body.
He watched on as Charles finished up his interviews and pranced over to him. A smile perpetually plastered on his face.
“Congrats race winner.” Max said, extending his hand to clap his shoulder.
Charles made a face at him. “I don't get a congratulatory hug?”
Max laughed but pulled Charles in all the same. He wrapped his arms around the lithe body and Charles answered by throwing his own arms around his waist and slotting his head in the crook of Max’s neck.

Radio Check? Loud and Clear! - Chapter 2 Sneak Peak 👀
Charles took his place on the sim and waited until the cameras started rolling to begin his lap.
Max’s role here was to commentate, and so he did.
“You breaked way too early going into that corner.”
“You just missed the apex by a mile!"
“Wow, amazing Charles. Drive like that in real life and you will be overtaken by everyone.”
“Nice job! You just invented a new way to lose time in every corner.”
He watched in pleasure as Charles’ face became increasingly red with anger. Max mentally patted himself on a job well done.
Charles finally finished his lap and Max was very satisfied with his commentary, but a quick look around the room said otherwise.
“Max,” Lilly started tentatively, “we were hoping for the comments to be a bit more humorous and less critical?”
“The only thing humorous here is his lap.” Max said, pointing at the lap time to emphasise his point.
Lilly looked over but seemed unconvinced, “I mean he’s only a tenth off the quickest? But that's not the point. We just need some fun marketing content to showcase the chemistry between you two.”
Max snorted very unattractively at that.

Hello beautiful people!! I just wanted to come on here and say thank you for all the support and just do a little introduction.
My name is Mia. I work a 9 to 5, I'm a finance girly and I love my job. Up until recently I was also studying full time but I finally cleared all my subjects!!!! Which meant free time so I started writing to cure a bit of my boredom.
I've been a reader since 2017 now. I started off with BTS fics (Jikook you always have a special place in my heart), then went into MDZS and now I'm here with Lestappen. The 9795 in my username is a little nod to Jimin (born in 1995) and Jungkook/Wang Yibo (born in 1997) - if anyone was curious hahaha.
I've alwayysss wanted to write my own but never had the courage to post. But I'm glad I can share stuff now. It brings me soo much happiness that at least one person is reading my work.
With that being said, below is a little sneak peak of my works. Radio Check will be coming hopefully today (I'm beyondddd excited for this). It's an Engineer Max and RedBull Driver Charles fic.
