Personally, I think niggas should be way more offended that rapper 21 Savage is secretly a Brit than we are over Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s high school turn at blackface.
I don’t think what Northam did was that big of a deal.
Just a young fucking idiot acting like a young fucking idiot.
Shit like race and racism are usually hilarious to you when you’re that age.
Either that, or you’re thinking way too deeply, way too early.
And I don’t write that in defense of Northam, he actually could be a racist.
The fact that I don’t give a fuck just says way more about who I am, than who he is.
Thing is, when I was in high school, for Halloween a bunch of white dudes on the football team had a “Black Dude Day” and they dressed like some bastardization of rapper/street corner thugs while the Black football players had “White Boy Day” dressing like denizens of a Van Halen concert or John Hughes film.
It was all in bad taste and elicited nothing worse than groans of disapproval.
I laughed the whole time.
The shot of this twerp Northam, in which he’s either under the KKK hood or the blackface, sharing a beer with the other party, and which he’s now tryna deny was even him, to me is just another example of stupid youth run amok.
Then again, you could slap a chick’s ass back then too and that, today, is a cardinal sin as well.
But judging this clown by today’s standards is akin to putting #MeToo in a time machine, without, as I’m tired of pointing out, anybody making motions to take the slave-owners off our currency or rename any parts of the country christened after America”s great flesh-peddling tyrant of a first President.
Therefore, what niggas should be pissed about, but have instead taken as the joke that Northam should be dismissed as is that ICE wants to deport psychotic thug of a murderous trap-rapper 21 Savage because, as it turns out, he’s not even an American nigga.

But I see something far more insidious.
How basic must we imagine Black culture to be if all that’s necessary to ape it is the ability to successfully trap-rap?
Like I said in my second blackface piece, the only time blackface is genuinely offensive is when the people that wear it proceed to act “Black” (American).
Well, that’s exactly what 21 Savage has been doing and he made a financial killing doing so.
He even had the cunning to fall back and apologize – like a “real” nigga would – when his slick mouth got him in trouble with the Jewish community.
The rest of the time, it’s been nothing but lyrics about killing “niggas”, guns, hoes and drugs.
This lets me know that worldwide, even among the Black communities outside of the US, that we Black Americans are known as the “killing niggas; guns, hoes and drugs” people.
Worse yet, if someone, anyone, with Black skin comes along trap-rapping about “killing niggas; guns, hoes and drugs”, we require no further proof of authenticity and accept and embrace him or her as one of ours and without question.
Or maybe I’m the one that’s got it all fucked up and that is who we really are.
