Shoulder To Cry On | Lydia & Rae
Leaving her apartment like she just had, fully conscious of the repercussions that left her after her bust up with Reggie. This was it, Lydia thought, as she’d slammed the door behind her. Enough was enough. She couldn’t keep going on like this. With the lies. Just because Reggie revealed one truth didn’t mean he wasn’t concealing more secrets. And she couldn’t get over that look on his face when he walked through the front door. That’s what threw her, knowing full well that something happened. She couldn’t let it lie. After all, why should she? She’d been up all night worried sick about him, and their conversation when he did return caused nothing but destruction. Maybe she should have let him sleep his hangover off first, maybe she should have just let it go. As stubborn as Lydia was, she couldn’t.
Their argument ran through her head and Lydia couldn’t tell whether she wanted to cry or throw a punch at something or someone. Was she wrong? Her gut was telling her that she was right and so she believed that there was something underlying. The tears were in her eyes but she hadn’t allowed them to slip just yet. Was this it? Really, truly, it? It wasn’t like Lydia to get so upset so easily. Not after her mom passed away, anyway. Knowing that she should go to work, her feet took her outside her sister’s apartment, immediately knocking on the door before she even knew what to say. In any crisis, Rae was the first person she thought of. They had been so close growing up. Rae always seemed to know the answer for everything, she could always go to her. And she did. She needed reassurance she was doing the right thing. But Lydia never considered the fact she would have to confess the truth before getting to that point.
Her mind was a mess, a jumbled one at that for someone who was usually prepared for anything. As soon as the door opened, her eyws locked on to Rae’s and she tried to smile but it barely lasted a second, a single tear slipping from her socket. Before she could say anything, Lydia had practiacally dove in for a hug, throwing her arms around her and hugging her tightly, not saying anything else, her impulse taking over for the time being How she was going to explain this, Lydia had no idea. All she knew was that she needed her sister.
