{event/fashion} Rafael Cox Designs
I had the wonderful opportunity of attending ex-project runway contestant Rafael Cox's fashion event last week. The fashion show titled Redemption, was a riveting kick-off to his spring/summer 2013 line. Inspired by past events in his life, he described the collection as a rebirth of himself.
I personally got to meet Rafael and he was far from what I expected. He was such a wonderful and talented person who was very much involved with all that was going on with his show. He also expressed how emotionally overwhelmed he was by everyone who wanted to see him in action.
You know I had to jump from behind the lens and take a red carpet picture. I obviously was no where close to red carpet ready and really need to work on my posing skills (check out my right foot).
Rafael's designs were very hip and trendy and could definitley be seen on the streets of Atlanta. He showcased his take on peplum and form fitting dresses. His fabrics seemed very comfortable and movable. High buns and dramatic eyes completed the modern look of the collection.
He introduced us to his version of maxi dresses for the non-conservative female. Thigh-high slits and cut out backs and sides were scattered amongst the compilation.
Playing with bold color-blocking, Rafael presented leg lengthening pants along with textured bottoms.
Bright and intensive hues graced the runway. Tops were incorporated with mesh backs along with exaggerated shoulders. Skirts were knee skimming and dresses varied from minis to floor gracing.
For his first solo fashion show, Rafael showcased designs that I am sure Atlanta fashionistas would enjoy. What do you guys think about the collection?
xoxo
