so. after my extensive disappearance and period of life called university, i am proud to announce that I FINALLY HAVE REFS FOR MY TEC AND NWCC OCS!!!
TEC OC: RAFAEL VELOZ GUTIERREZ
Rafael is a Dominican and Guatemalan DND/tabletop gaming nerd from Massachusetts who became obsessed with board games during his middle school years. He's also into many other geeky subcultures like anime, manga/comic books, alternative graphic novels (reading in general), and video games to name a few. He's shy, awkward, and clingy to people that share his interests, but overall, he's a nice guy that isn't to entrenched in the excesses of fandom culture and would rather have someone share his interests with.
Until it's about board games. If Rafael offers you to play tabletop game with him, be ready to see his nice, socially awkward demeanor flip into a ruthless beast who WILL yell at you for messing up the rules and taking too long on your turn and won't apologize for it.
According to him, "Tabletop gaming is a serious art form, and should be treat with the respect it deserves!!!"
He's usually keeps to himself at school, trying not to get bullied by the more popular kids, but when the evening comes, he logs on to his dedicated fanfiction forums and becomes… taranthetancious3. He's a prolific fanfic writer who writes mostly about his favorite media and ships (Mulder/Kryrek is his OTP) and spends the rest of his time online starting flamewars and sending shitty "critiques" on other people's works.
In general, he passes his time outside of school being an asshole online on gaming and fanfic forums, annoying his older sister, and hiding in his room to "practice strategy in his games collection" (play by himself). All of a distraction to being a gay kid in the 90s.
He meets Josh online after discovering a terrible secret Josh thought nobody would see (finding his gay superboy fanfic lol) and to protect their online reputations, they essentially have blackmail on each other and are now stuck with their secrets. Somehow, this blossoms into a genuine friendship where they feel with each other and complain about their lives online, with Rafael feeling more than just friendliness with Josh…
NWCC OC: SEBASTIÁN PÉREZ ÁLVAREZ
Sebastián Pérez Álvarez is a performance artist/literature snob whose works are transgressive/pretentious explorations of the human body and sexuality (basically voyeurism).
He's a lanky, aggressive Dominican/ Guatemalan punk whose unashamedly queer in his daily life, dressing in plaid skirts, obscure band shirts with the sleeves ripped off, and heavy combat boots. His hair is unnaturally long and straight (due to him straightening his hair everyday) and he always wears a beanie.
The one thing that makes him especially fun is his love of face paint and makeup. Taking inspiration (and stealing looks) from artists such as Leigh Bowery and Divine, he loves to fuck with gender as the ultimate punk statement to the homophobic 90's.
He(?) meets Jaybird during an underground punk show during a particular rowdy mosh pit, where Jaybird is enamored by his(?) brash attitude and unabashed style. They met up after the show, where Jaybird mentions the collective.
Seb, intrigued by what this weirdo has to offer, agrees to come to this so called "collective." Maybe their art will finally get the recognition it deserves…
