Rage and Devotion
OptimisticDuelist recently released a video on hope entitled Devotion and Delusion in which he outlined some of his ideas on the aspect of Hope. While I largely agree with the ideas he sets forward, I feel like Rage is just as linked to the idea of devotion as Hope is, if not more so. Specifically, it seems linked to unconditional devotion to a person or career, rather than an ideology.
Just look at our canon, and semi-canon, Ragebound. The Makaras are devoted to Lord English, and Kurloz inspires this same kind of unconditional devotion to him and, though she remains largely unaware of it, to his master, in Meulin. Xefros is devoted to Dammek to such an intense degree that he is willing to completely undermine his own agency and interests in service of his moirail’s. Lynera is so devoted to Bronya that she kills anyone who she sees as a threat to their relationship and acts as her right hand troll, even though she knows Bronya doesn’t see her as a romantic prospect.
Even Nihkee and Charun, who lack this specific personal devotion to an individual, each have an equally intense devotion to their craft. Nihkee is so devoted to the practice of Muscular Theatre that she refuses to phone it in, even in matches against trolls higher on the Hemospectrum. Charun lives in a cave and appears to have no connections whatsoever save their devotion to the meaningless beauty of Garbage Art, and is willing to risk significant physical injury to acquire particularly appealing materials.
Gamzee’s devotion to Lord English is so intense and unconditional that he betrays his friends in every single timeline, and is willing to sustain countless indiginities and injuries, including being shot multiple times to bring about the coming of his god. Xefros doesn’t literally worship Dammek, but he comes close. His interest in sports, his personal property, all come second to Dammek’s. A good part of this is undoubtedly Dammek’s abusive behavior, but with the rest of the pattern evident, you cannot deny the connection.
With all of this in evidence, I dare you to say that Hope is the only aspect with a connection to the idea of devotion.
"all rage players are inherently murderous" factoid actualy just statistical error. average rage player kills 0 trolls a year. Gamze Clownboy, who lives in cave & kills 10,000 trolls each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
October’s character of the month is Gamzee Makara
Hey so if any of you guys know any blogs that are really focused on rage players/rage aspect please let me know bc I do not know nearly enough about my aspect
Oh! Knight and Witch of Rage if you aren't to bisy?
Sure!
Knights are passive exploitation classes. They’re also theorized to be “Weaponizers” - those who use their aspects as weapons. I’m going to cover the former (exploitation), but if you’d prefer the latter (weaponizing), send me another message!
A Knight of Rage would exploit rage. Rage is all about negative emotions and unwavering belief. Specifically, it represents stagnation and resignation due to the beliefs one holds. A Knight of Rage would exploit belief and resignation and use it for theirs and other’s benefit. This might be seen as taking advantage of people when they are at their worst states. This is not ALWAYS a bad thing - one may be able to ‘take advantage’ of someone by helping them direct those negative emotions towards better goals. Exploitation also means they will simply make full use of rage. This means that this player will likely be able to harness the power of their own and their teammate’s negative emotions to increase their power tenfold.
Currently, little is known about the obvious, physical powers of rage players. (E.X Breath players control the wind, Space players control space… there does not seem to be a physical manifestation of rage, and I can not think of an example where it may be used), so I am not sure of what direct powers they may have!
A Witch of Rage may have similar abilities but different ways they use them and different capabilities. While Knights passively exploit, Witches actively manipulate. A Witch of Rage would be able, likely, to affect the levels of anger, negative emotions, or resignation in others. They might be able to manipulate their own levels of negative emotions to INHIBIT themselves or others. This can be useful many ways. For example, a witch may be able to inhibit an enemy’s positive feelings, thus causing them to give up the fight. They may inhibit themselves to give up a dangerous task! Likewise, they may be able to foster negative emotions, which can cause many, many difficulties.
I can imagine the Knight of Rage being someone who was somewhat stereotypically stoic. They may be calm in most situations, but have seemingly sudden rage at times they need.
Alternatively, I can imagine an underdeveloped or younger Knight of Rage being the opposite - over-emotional, negative, and constantly overwhelmed with anger.
A Witch of Rage might be someone you don't want to mess with. I can imagine them being someone who seems friendly, but secretly harbors a lot of dark feelings.

Rage players headcanon;
What if all players in the rage aspect start off kind and sweet (Gamzee when he's on his pie, and kind of Kurloz), then as the game goes on, depending on the sequence of events they become less kind and more hostile (Sober Gamzee and the GHB).
I'm kind of curious what you think of Rage as a more "positive" aspect. In canon, it's only been producing pretty negative results. But I guess, what do you think something like an Heir of Rage would do?
I see Rage as more of emotions in general, not just anger. Gamzee, I feel, doesn’t have the ability to make people angry. No, I think he has the ability to destroy their emotional state as a Bard passively destroys their aspect. This is shown with both Terezi and Karkat. Gamzee made Terezi feel horrible that she was blind in their kismesis(destroying the pride she once had for her blindness) and even more horrible for curing it. He also destroyed Karkat’s emotional state by ending their moirallegiance (Karkat felt used by Gamzee and this emotionally crippled him until he became closer to Dave).
So, in short, I believe rage players’ powers are more based on emotion than anger.
