he had been completely zoned out, absentmindedly bringing his vape pen up to his lips every so often as a fly seemed to buzz around his beer. his attention is drawn to the freckled man with a cowboy hat. ( it's the first thing that he zoomed in on. a cowboy hat. a real cowboy? ) midnight blue eyes shift towards his face, feeling his face immediately flush whenever he finally registered his words.

she was trying to go through all the faces she's ever met in her head. it was difficult with masks on but it was possible, right? aurora was trying to think of other ways to try and recognize whoever was in front of her. voice? hair? eye color? but she had the hint: he wasn't a lord. that narrowed some people down. kind of. "alright...that helps." aurora jokingly tapped her chin before laughing at herself. "do we know each other then?" did he knew she was a princess? or did he not know who she was either?

Nothing like the creaking of an iron cemetery gate to chase the old blues away. It's been overcast for days, but in New Orleans, that doesn't equal a break in the heat or humidity. She's less than careful, here. Mostly making the rounds out of habit, because there are no graves in this place --- at least, not the kind you can dig your way out of. Nothing to slay. The vampires here all live high on the hog, in mansions and penthouse suites. It's a different world.

If this place lacks vampires, then who the hell is she hearing out there in the twilight? She pauses at the base of a statue, a giant angel in mostly empty space between tombs. "You know I can hear you, right? Might wanna Google, 'stealthy'."

┊ ┊ ┊ ┊ ♥︎ . *. ⋆ FOR A COUPLE REASONS, IT'S A bit surprising to feel sam's fingertips running along the dark scar above his right elbow — from when he'd tripped and accidentally grazed a loose nail sticking up from the baseboard on the stairs. for one, he didn't know sam very well, meaning that he hadn't quite had the time to get USED to the way the other touching him felt. secondly, of what he knew of sam, he never came across as a very touchy person; very much like el, very quiet && reserved around people he didn't know well.

but, no matter. it wasn't like he'd been made to jump out of his skin, of which he'd make a much greater deal. no, it was just a SIMPLE touch, one he could probably use as material in conversations he'd been wanting to try and start having with sam. ❝ it's kind of a funny story, how i got that, ❞ he says quietly in reference to his scar.
