Arthur’s POV
“Arthur please! Open the door my love, I know what it may seem like to you, but I assure you that its not.” (Y/n) pleaded from the other side. I sat down on the mattress in our chamber contemplating whether or not it was true. Should I believe what my wife so desperately is trying to reassure me off. Or should I stick with my gut feeling and tell her how I have felt for the last 4 years. Her constant pounding on the door finally gets to me and I make my way to open it. “I wish to be left alone at the moment (y/n).” Her arms circle around my waist and I can feel her face wetting by back with tears. “Arthur please, talk to me. Why have you run off. You know that I love you. I do not want him, all he does is bring me pain and you take that away. So please, talk to me!” (y/n) murmurs into my back. As much as it pains me to do so I pry her hands off of me and sit us down on the bed. All I do is long for her touch, but this is not okay. I cannot keep feeling this way and go on pretending that I could have ever stood a chance against him. “(y/n), look at me. I love you and I always will. But its evident that you love him. and I honestly can say that I know I will never stand a chance against him, because the thought of you possibly running back to him has always been on my mind since the day we got married.”
Her eyes showed so much pain that confessing this felt as if I was driving a knife through her heart. “Arthur, I love you. What can I do to show you that. Yes I confess that I was in love with him, but that was long ago and I have left it in the past in order to build a future with you. Whom I love and who I share and will continue to share beautiful children with. So please don't shut me out, Arthur.” She says leaning our foreheads together and holding my face in her gentle hands. “Ok, however I want to be able to process things by myself. So I have decided to have the guest room across the hall prepared only until I figure things out.” With out giving her a chance to fight back, I place my lips on hers and savour the kiss as if it were our last. Meeting her eyes was something I wanted to avoid as I knew that just looking at her broken expression would make me change my mind. I hastily make my way out of the room, but sneak a quick glance over my shoulder to find my wife staring off into the direction where I once sat. With tears streaming down her eyes...
Your POV
What had I done? Why was I such fool to not see what my husband was clearly going through? Millions of questions rushed into my mind about how to go about this situation. I loved Arthur, I was clear on that. But he spoke the truth, there was something in me that could not let Ivar go and it took hurting my husband and Ivar to figure that out. As I sulked I forgot about the doctor whom I had asked to see me earlier. I was having really bad stomach pains and my breasts were more tender then they had ever been. So I wanted to make sure that I was not sick, as that would have been the last thing I needed on my plate at the moment. “My Queen, are you alright? Do you wish to push back this appointment, I dont mind coming by later when you're better.” The doctor spoke from behind me. “Yes, it seems so. Ill let the servant girl know if I need you doctor. Im sorry for the inconvenience.” “Nonsense your majesty, it is my pleasure to serve you.” With a bow the doctor retreats from the room and Im left to my own thoughts once again...
----------------------------------
“(y/n), wake up... its seems that you fell asleep on the floor. Come on I’ll help you up.” Upon hearing Hvitty’s comforting voice my eyes flutter open and I cant help the tears that song come down my face like a cascade. “(y/n)! are you alright are you hurt anywhere? Why are you crying?” Hvitserk’s eyes scan my face and my body looking for the source of my pain, which is held in my heart, but he’ll never know that. “Arthur... He...” I try to find the words to say. “What! What did he do! Did he hurt you? I swear ill kill him!” With that Hvitserk tries to let me go and run out the door, but somehow I manage to stop him. “Hvitserk, No! He didn't hurt me. I hurt him... He believes that Im in love with Ivar, and I fear that their maybe some truth to it...” I say just above a whisper, with my head held low. “(Y/N), Ive known that since before you were married. It was obvious, but I would never say anything to you because I found that it was best if I kept such observations to myself, before I found out about your father.” Lifting my head and staring directly at him, I move my head to the side with a puzzling look. “What do you mean about my father, Hvitserk?” Hvitserk now mirrors the same lost look that I have on my face. “I thought thats why you and Ivar had gotten together, because Ragnar’s not your father...”
----------------------------------------------
Ivar’s POV
“Aghhhh!”Is the sound that comes out of my gritted teeth when the medicinal herbs are placed on my face. “That hurts like a bitch, get out! Ill do this myself if I have to. GO!” I yell at the servant girl who tried to cleanse and tend to the cuts on my face. “Ivar, please let the servants tend to you. I still cannot believe that Arthur punched you in the face. Hehehe, you deserved it though, how could you question the paternity of his children and not expect him to want to kill you?” Bjorn laughs as he chugs the rest of his drink down. “Well, if you actually cared about your children and the heir to your throne, you’d also be quite upset to find a Christian King claiming to be their father. Those children are mine! And its pretty evident, just look at Marjorie. She's my spitting image.” I snarl at him as the anger begins to rise in me again. “Ivar, thats your mistake and why you’ll never get (y/n) back. You believe that everything should be yours. And that people are things you can govern over, but they're not. Because those are children. And yes they may be yours, but you cannot take away what they have known because you want to be selfish.” He says with a stern look on his face, whilst getting up from his chair and making his way to the door. “Now get ready and fix yourself we have a intimate dinner to attend to with MY sister and the love of your life.” Unbeknownst to us, there was Freydis on the balcony listening to our whole conversation. And little did I know that it would come to be the thing I regretted the most.
At the dinner I notice (y/n) sit on the opposite side of the table from Arthur. This wouldn't have affected me if it wasn't for the look on both of their faces. They seemed distraught and broken. Arthur masked it well, but (y/n) was an open book for all of us to know exactly how she felt at that moment. Not much talking happened, besides Marjorie and Erik shouting at each other on who was better at riding. They reminded me a lot of myself and all I wanted was to tell them the truth, that they were my children and that they would go back to Kattegat with me to learn about the true gods and not the fable that had been told to them about their so called ‘God’.” “(Y/n) are you alright, you do not seem quite like yourself tonight.” Bjorn states with a concerned look that we all share. Even Arthur looks a bit concerned, but his body language makes it seem as if he is alright and nothing is wrong. “Sarah, could you please put Marjorie and Erik to bed? Its getting late for them and they have their lessons early in the morning.” She says with a stern and cold look in her (e/c) eyes. “Su...sure your majesty. “ At that Bjorn stands up as if to accompany Sarah, but is quickly stopped by (y/n)’s icy glare and venomous words. “Sit your ass down.” At that we all look astonished, but Hvitserk only stares at her with sadness and what seems to be sympathy. He must know why she is like this then.
Bjorn slowly sits back down on the table. A shocked look graces his face, as he cannot comprehend why she is acting this way towards her beloved older brother. “How long.” Is all she grits out through her teeth. “What do you mean, (y/n)?” My eyes meet Hvitserk’s own and the realization dawns upon me. She knows...
--------------------------
Your POV
“Stop with the bullshit! I cannot take anyone else lying to me!” I scream as I bang my hands against the table, stunning everyone in sight. “How long did you know that Ragnar was not my father! How long have you kept the truth from me! How long have you known that Athelstan was my father!” I could careless about everyone staring at me as if I was a mad woman. I had been lied to my whole life. All I had known had been a lie, and the people who I trusted the most in this world had been the ones keeping it a secret from me. “(Y/N)... I..I’ve know since the moment you were born. But father had sworn me into secrecy and I could not break a promise. This doesn't change anything though. You are still my sister and you will always be.” Bjorn says in a haste as tries to come closer to me, but I step back and move as far back as I can. “Did you know? Tell me! Ivar did you know that we were not siblings!” Ivar didn't even have to answer. I knew from the look in his eyes that he too had been lying to me.
“I knew.” Arthur says staring right at me. “I knew that you weren't his daughter and I knew that Ivar wasn't your brother. But I kept that information from you because all I wanted to do was have you by my side. I’m sorry, for the pain I have caused you (y/n). Im sorry for being selfish and not telling you the truth, but I now see that I was wrong and as of tomorrow you are free to go back to your country. I promise that your title and lands will not be taken from you or from the children. May they be mine or his. But I cannot go on with this facade anymore.” Arthur says in the most calm demeanour as he stands up and comes to me. “You hypocrite! How dare you make me feel like shit for harbouring feelings for Ivar when you knew all along and knew that my whole life was a lie.” I scream as I run at him and slap him across the face. But before I can get another punch in I feel a strong grip holding me from behind. From the shocks and the utter feeling in my stomach I knew it could have only been Ivar. As I try desperately to release from his vice grip, my whole world comes crashing down when Sarah enters the room. With blood all over her.
“Your highnesses...Erik.... he.. he..” She tries to say through her shock. “What! What is wrong with my son!” Ivar, Arthur and I scream at the same time. “He.. he’s dying!”
------------------------------------------------
We all simultaneously run after Sarah towards the doctors quarters. Ivar with his brace on, manages to run faster than all of us and busts the doors wide open. if I wasn't so worried about my son or upset about the fact they all knew Ragnar wasn't my father, I would've been impressed. “What are you doing! Get away from my son!” At that Ivar rushes towards the doctor who is bleeding Erik out. Grabbing him by the collar he slams the doctor on the wall and his sclera go into bluish hue, showing that he is in danger of breaking a bone. “Ivar stop it! Let the man go, he is just trying to help.” “Help my ass! I will not let you harm my son, do you understand me! I will not let you harm him!” At that Ivar lets the doctor go, but not without staring him down. And the doctor looking like he is about to shit himself. Rushing to Erik’s side I notice something strange. The colour of his skin is now fading and his eyes have bags under them. But what hits me the most is the memory of Uncle Rollo teaching me about poison. “He doesn't need to be bled, he needs medicine. He’s been poisoned...”
“Mama! What is wrong with Erik! He will be okay right? He has to be okay!” Marjorie begins to say as she shakes with fear. Before Arthur or I could say something to console her, Ivar bends down and takes her hands in his. “Marjorie, listen to me. Your brother is a fighter and so are you. After all were related aren't we?” Ivar says as he lifts her chin. “Yes..I suppose that we are. Is it true what they say though? Are you our father?” At that Ivar turns to me looking towards me for permission. At this point I think to myself how hard it was to learn my whole life had been a lie and that I would not want that for my children, so I nod. “Yes, Marjorie I am your father. And no your mother is not my sister. It was something that we had to say because she needed to be kept safe.” He says ever so calmly. “Safe from who?”She questions “From my mother. Your grandmother.”
Cough*Cough* Spurts of blood cover me in seconds. My attention becomes focused in on my son again. “Where is the damn antidote! Please someone hurry!” At that Hvitserk runs into the room with a small green vial. “Here take this it should help him. Lagertha gave it to me before her and father left. Something about it would come in handy some day. Here.” Shoving the vial in my hands I open it quickly and lift Erik’s head. “Drink this Erik. It should help you, my darling. Please be strong, I know you're scared, but you’ll be alright ok. Everything will be ok.” I say through tears. Today had been the worst day by far. “Mira... please help my son. I know you're always with me, but please help me now. Pray for my son and ask God to save him.”
----------------------------------------
A few hours had gone by and nobody had moved from the room. Arthur sat on the chair next to the bed with his elbows on his knees, looking straight and focused in on Erik. Bjorn and Hvitserk sat by the fireplace and were wetting some towels so that we could place them atop Eriks head. I sat on the bed next to my son and caressed his beautiful face hoping for a miracle. I had dismissed Sarah and told her to take Marjorie with her, but she would not budge. Sarah left, but Marjorie stayed and sat in Ivars lap asking him if Erik would pull through. Ivar was sweet to answer as best as he could, and I could tell that he truly cared for his children even if his demeanour wasn't the greatest. I knew that deep in my heart I would have to let him get to know them, but it still hurt especially knowing that he now was married. “Wait, where is Freydis? I haven't seen her since yesterday.” I say looking towards Ivar. “I dont know earthier to be honest, she's probably looking at some damn flowers anyway. Its best if she's far away anyway.” “Why would you say that about your wi-” “she's not my wife, at least not yet. Were not actually married, (y/n). I just said that to piss you off.” Taking a deep breath I go to stand up from the bed in order to fetch a bucket of water and some new cloths. Instead I end up on the floor cradling my belly, with a burning sensation in my chest and blood pouring out from my mouth. “(Y/n)! Mama!” I can hear the shouts around me. “Fetch the doctor! Now hurry!” The voices around me begin to fade and not before long I can feel myself drifting away.
“My baby... Save my baby...” And with that everything turns pitch black...
You always knew you were different, but you still thought you were Ragnar’s daughter

previous chapter
A few hours later. Ragnar still didn’t know where his sons’ had gone, but he got on a horse and Ivar rode behind him. Holding onto his father. They went to Hedeby and Ragnar hoped and prayed that Y/n had been just predictable enough to go there.
It took around a day and they arrived in the dead of night. Ragnar burst through the doors to the great hall and Ivar followed close behind. Lagertha was having dinner with some people from the town. They all stared at Ragnar but Lagertha immediately told them to leave. As the room emptied. The doors were closed and Lagertha looked at Ragnar with a confused expression.
“What are you-”
“Where is she?” Ragnar asked desperately.
“Who?”
“Don’t play dumb with me Lagertha! Where is my daughter!” Ragnar yelled and Ivar crawled to be next to him.
“She’s not here,” Lagertha said sadly. She sat down at the table.
“Was she here?” Ivar chipped in with a worried face. Lagertha didn’t reply. “Please. She’s my sister.” Ivar begged and Ragnar’s first wife looked at Ivar with sympathy.
“Yes.”
“Of course she did. I knew she would. Why didn’t I come sooner!” Ragnar cursed himself and shook his head. Trying not to cry.
“It’s not your fault. She made me swear on her life not to tell you if you came within a few hours if her. It has been a day.” Lagertha put a hand on top of Ragnar’s.
“Where is she?”
“She wanted a ship. So I told her she could have one of mine and two of my shieldmaidens to accompany her.” Lagertha looked into Ragnar’s hurt eyes.
“Why could you alert me or keep her here so I could come and get her?” Ragnar pulled back his hand.
“She’s a woman. She wants freedom and I refuse to be the one to take that from her.” Lagertha sat up straight.
“This is why she came to you first. She knows you’ll sympathise with her like you have and just let her go.” Ragnar looked angry now.
“No. You lied to her. So don’t come into my home and tell me I’m in the wrong here.” Lagertha said sternly. “She came for my help because she didn’t feel like you could or would help her.”
“Don’t pin this on me! I was protecting her. It was all happy families up until she found out. We all could have lived our lives without that all be out in the air!” Ragnar stood up and muttered that he was going to the kill the next person that crossed him.
“She is a young woman who needed advice and she needed an escape and that is your fault,” Largetha yelled back.
“Well, maybe I didn’t want her to leave! Maybe I love her too much that I didn’t want the possibility of her leaving so I didn’t tell her.” Ragnar turned to face Lagertha, ready to fight her.
“Shut up!” Ivar screamed. “I couldn’t give a shit about what you two are talking about because my sister is still out there. Alone. So pull yourselves together and help me.”
“Yes. I’m sorry. Lagertha. Please.” Ragnar turned to his ex-wife and looked helplessly at her.
“Alright. But I know I’ll regret it.” Lagertha sat down at the table.
She told the two men that Y/n had gone to the nearest coast to them and planned to sail to England to find where she was from. Lagertha had deduced where about her mother may have been from and told Y/n exactly where to go. Ragnar’s head fell at this revelation. “She wants to know who she is,” Lagertha told her. Ragnar closed his eyes and cried a little. Ivar looked at the floor sadly as he realised how his sister must have felt more like him than he knew. They both felt as if they didn’t belong and he hated himself for not connecting with her on that level.
The next morning, Ragnar and Ivar rode down to the coast where Lagertha had told Y/n to go. Ragnar was pushing the horse to its limits and Ivar was scared that they wouldn’t make it. They stopped by a pool of water in a wood somewhere and Ragnar jumped off the horse. Lifting Ivar off, he walked over to a tree and leant his head on it. Silently praying to any God, he didn’t care which one. Just anyone to bring his little girl back or at least guarantee her safety.
“Father?” Ivar asked.
“Yes, Ivar.”
“What if she doesn’t want to come home.” His youngest son looked up at his father with scared innocent eyes.
“Then we have to let her go.” Ragnar managed to say, even though that was the last thing he wanted to do. He could never let her go.
“But I… I don’t want to.” Ivar looked at the ground with tears in his eyes.
“Ivar. We can’t control her. She is allowed to do as she pleases. I mean. I’ve lied to her, her whole life. I wouldn’t be surprised if she never wanted to see me again.” It hurt Ragnar to say it, but he was right. It wasn’t fair what he did to her.
They set off again and reached the coast in good time, Ragnar saw the tendrils of smoke floating up in the air from somewhere up ahead and he could only hope it was his little girl. But she wasn’t that anymore. She was a woman and Ragnar wasn’t prepared to tell himself that.
“Father. It must be her.” Ivar said as they approached the smoked out fire. “It’s still fresh enough for her to be close. We could still find her.”
“Don’t get your hopes up,” Ragnar warned his son and Ivar stayed quiet.
You were sitting on the beach with two of Lagertha’s shield maidens.
“Are you sure you want to do this, Y/n, it is a lot different to what you are used to,” Ingrid commented and you nodded.
“Are you used to the sea?” Ida asked.
“I am sure I will love it. I’m not welcome as I was and I want to know my life in England.” You were optimistic but you missed your home.
“You’re always welcome with Lagertha, I assure you,” Ingrid reassured you with a hand on your shoulder.
At that moment you heard horses. They were close and the three of you looked around, all pulling out your swords you looked around, eagle-eyed. But it was like you recognised the pace of the horses, the gentle words of the rider. You knew who it was and you hated it as much as you loved it.
“Y/n!” Ivar yelled and you couldn’t help a slight smile at seeing your brother, you still loved your siblings the same.
“It is just my father and brother. Do not worry.” You told the shield maidens.
“We’ve been looking for you, for so long!” Ivar exclaimed. Then you caught eye contact with Ragnar.
“Y/n, if you’d just let me explain-“ Ragnar began.
“No father… or rather, Ragnar. I will not be belittled or humiliated by you any more than I already have been.” Tears began to form in your eyes and Ragnar jumped off the horse.
“I didn’t mean to hurt you.” He told you as he helped Ivar off the horse.
“Well, you certainly fucking failed at that didn’t you?” You walked towards Ragnar and Ivar.
“I’m sorry.” Ragnar hung his head.
“Why couldn’t you tell me?” You asked him.
“Because you would run. I knew you would because that’s what you do what it gets bad. You can’t deal with the hurt.” Ragnar reasoned and you clenched your jaw. You hated that he knew you well.
“Fuck off, Ragnar.” You hissed and you sighed.
“If you want us to leave-“
“No!” Ivar yelled “No, you’re coming back with us. Back home!”
“No.” You growled through tears. “Not my home.”
“Do you want us to leave?” Ragnar asked.
“Y/n! Stop it, now!” Ivar looked at his father and his sister and tears fell from his eyes too.
“I am no one, nothing.” You admitted bluntly and Ragnar struggled to also not cry.
“You belong to us.” Ragnar tried to rectify the situation.
“I don’t belong, anywhere. In case you’ve forgotten, I’m not your child, you can’t control me. I’m not your sister and I am not a Viking,” you paused “I’m an English girl who was taken from her mother by a man who just wanted to fill the hole in his soul from losing his own daughter. Making me his sick little prodigy.” You glared at Ragnar.
“It was never like that.” Ragnar took a step towards you and the Shield Maidens stood in his way.
“You do not own my admiration anymore, Ragnar Lothbrok and you certainly do not own my love.” You choked out and Ivar’s head fell.
“Then we shall leave you.” Ragnar decided and Ivar protested.
“You are my sister. I love you as my own blood and I don’t care if you’re not my real sister. We are twins, we are the same Y/n, you and I cannot be apart and you know it.” Ivar came closer to you and you pushed past the Shieldmaidens.
“I will never forget you Ivar,” you leant on your stomach on the floor and you were equal with the man you still considered your brother “You’re right, we are one in the same and this cord between us will snap. As it will have too because I cannot be here. I do not belong here. If I go to England, they will never accept me, if I stay, I will be ridiculed as an English bastard. I cannot win.”
“I will kill them all! You are my sister and I need you.” Ivar’s voice caught in his throat.
“I don’t know how I can come back, Ivar, I don’t want too. At least your mother will have gotten what she wanted I suppose.” You sighed and sat up.
“I don’t care about what she thinks about you, Y/n, your father and your brothers and Lagertha and so many other people love you. I want you here and I can’t let you go.” Ivar looked at you, pleading. You hugged him and he gripped you tightly.
“I love you, Ivar.” You whispered and he regrettably let you go. You stood up and walked towards Ragnar, he opened his arms and you fell into them.
“Don’t go,” Ragnar whispered.
“You know as well as I. That I can’t come back.” You shut your eyes and gripped the man you used to call, father.
“I understand that you think you don’t belong but that’s not the real reason. I know you. Why are you really going?” He stepped back from you.
“I hate you.” You replied, simply. Wiping your face.
“You hate me?” He asked.
“Yeah. I fucking hate you! You let me live a lie for my whole life. Believing I was important and worth something when I was just a peasants daughter. I thought that the gods I worshipped would believe in me because of who I was. But I’m no one. Aren’t I?” You weren’t really asking because you knew the answer.
“I refuse to let you pity yourself!” Ivar yelled.
“What?” You asked.
“You’re Y/n Ragnardottir! You are somebody, you’re my sister and you are not leaving!” Ivar seemed as if he was pleading.
“I’m afraid this is one thing you can’t control, Ivar.” You sighed.
“You don’t have to go. I’d kill anyone who said anything.” Ivar promised and you smirked.
“You don’t have to go.” Ragnar agreed.
“Yes I do and it’s your fault.” You turned around.
That was the last time you saw your family of pagans, or so you thought.

Your POV
“My wife...” At Ivar’s words you had felt as if your heart had been ripped out of your chest, crumpled, and stomped on by him right in front of you. You just looked at the blonde beauty and thought about how perfect she was and how you could have never compared to her. “(Y/n), are you alright? You seem pale and quite unwell.” Freydis says to you with what would seem as genuine concern in her eyes. Your mind was at a loss for words, something that did not happen often to you anymore. You didn't know whether it could've been out fo jealousy or if out of shock and what seemed like a flare of anger rising in you. “Just a little light headed, that's all. Anyways, are you alright if we go up to the castle now? Or are there anymore people on the ship?” You say through gritted teeth and a fake smile on your face. Freydis exchanges a look with Ivar and he then turns to you with a smile on his face nodding. As the three of you turn to walk towards the hill leading to the castle, you noticed how Freydis gushed over Ivar in front of you. Occasionally she would turn and pretend to admire her surroundings and meet your eyes trying to show off. You promised yourself that for the love of your siblings and family that you would go along with the facade and pretend as if you didn't want to kill her every time she clung onto him like that. But it was proving much harder than you had initially thought. “Freydis, I would like a moment to talk to (y/n). You can continue making your way to the castle with a few of my men, just be careful love.” You heard Ivar say to her as his lips grazed hers.
Why had you been so jealous? You were happily married now to Arthur and had 2 beautiful children by him. As you would not let yourself think otherwise as to who the possibility of who the father could be. Not paying attention to Ivar or his “wife” you kept looking out towards the gardens and the townspeople. Your body is then whisked around rapidly by your so called “brother” and you come face to face for the first time in 4 years. “Why?” “Why what Ivar?” You say rolling your eyes at him trying to avoid this touchy subject. “You know exactly what!” He says pulling you off to the side and out of hearing range of anyone around. “How could you keep my children away from me!”
Ivar says as his grips tightens on your arms, surely to leave a bruise. Back then you would have cowered with fear at his tone of voice. But now you were a queen and Arthur had made you realize that no one not even himself could ever trample over you again! “First of all, you are not the king here and you DO NOT! Call the shots!” You say gripping his hand and forcing it to unclasp your arm. “Secondly, my children have a father and his name is Arthur Pendragon. The King of this land and I am his queen and I will not have you disrespect him with such blasphemous words leaving your mouth!” You say to him, with as much venom as you could muster laced into your words. His eyes showed shock and admiration in them. Surely in his mind he thought about how much you had changed and how the once scared girl that graced the land of Kattegat was now gone. Ivar knew the answer to his question though. You could not bare to let him in on the fact that you had bared him children, it would have placed everyone you cared for in the danger you had placed so far away from you. Not waiting for him to answer and get his words together you turn around and leave him behind in the dust. Walking away you felt empowered and for the first time like you had the control over him and it felt good.
-------------------------------------
Making your way through the halls of the castle you finally reach the hall to see everybody gathered and chatting with each other. Marjorie notices you enter and springs quickly from Arthur’s lap and makes a bee line for your arms. “Mama! You're just in time, Uncle Bjorn is telling us stories of when you were my age. Frankly you were quite boring, but it’s okay you’ve gotten a wee bit more fun!” She said as she clung around your neck. This child you say as you internally roll your eyes. She could always leave a whole room without words in seconds. But it was a quality that you were quite fond of. Carrying Marjorie in your arms you made your way towards Arthur and sat beside him. Marjorie then jumps from your arms to Arthurs lap and starts to play with the buttons on his jacket. Marjorie adored her father and it was evident to everyone who would look their way. Especially Ivar who sulked and gritted his teeth every time his eyes laid on her playing with Arthur.
Arthur lived to serve our children, but Marjorie was his mini-me. However, Erik was all mine. At that I call Erik away from the candies I know that he so desperately wants to eat, but that I will not let him. This boy is hyper enough as it is and I cannot handle so much excitement and emotions today. His little eyes turn to me pleading for a small bite of the sweets that are bestowed upon him. However, I am firm in my decision and although disappointed he makes his way to me with a huge smile on his face and his arms outstretched. Holding him in my arms I cannot resist, but spin him around as we both giggle and fall to the floor in a fit of laughter. “You're an exceptional mother (y/n), I always knew you would be.” Bjorn says whilst looking toward me with tears brimming in his eyes. “I feel incredibly proud of you for pushing past all the horrible things that have been placed in front of you and you coming out on top.” At that tears begin to form in mine. “Ok, Ok. No more crying. I feel as if there has been enough of that in our lives to last us the rest of them.” Hvitserk says whilst laughing. At his comment everyone laughs and that is when Sara enters the hall. “Your highness it is time for their majesties’ lessons.” She says whilst bowing her head. At that Erik and Marjorie stand up and rush towards her. They loved Sara and treated her as if she were their older sister. In fact she was Mira’s younger sister who was sent to me by Gisela when she found out about my pregnancy. I could not have asked for a better tutor for my children. Saying my goodbyes to them I turn to walk towards my husband, but come to notice a certain look on a certain bear like man. Bjorn’s eyes hold an astonished look of admiration and adoration. The look of a man who's been taken to heaven and does not wish to come back.
Arthur taps my knee to grab my attention, but he notices what Ive just witnessed and a smirk is displayed on his face. “It seems that our little Sara has caught your interest, Bjorn?” Arthur says playfully to him. “Yes, it appears to be so. Ive never met such a beautiful woman in my life.” Bjorn says still in what seems to be a trans like state of some kind. “Bjorn, surely you’ve met more beautiful women than a simple tutor and maid, have you not?” Freydis says from Ivar’s side. Her comments made by blood boil, which Arthur noticed and took quick action against. He placed his arms around my shoulders and whispered sweet nothings into my ears. He then lays one of his hands on my lap, to then which I place my hands on his, holding him ever close to us.
The way she caresses his hair and the way she positions herself beside him is bothersome to me. It goes to show that Freydis is a woman that will do anything to keep him, even if that a means worshipping him like a God. Trying to lighten the mood and ease the tension that quickly seems to be building up. Arthur asks about Kattegat and how it has been since we left. What we didn't know was that at this very moment just a few feet away was the person who would bring about sorrow and grief everywhere they went. Especially to me.
-------------------------------
Bjorn’s POV
When Arthur asked about the current state of Kattegat, my hands balled into fists. Not by his question, but because the ruin of Kattegat had come with us to England. “Well, it could be better, but I will not ruin our visit with such an ill subject.” I reply in a tone in which everyone understands that the subject matter at hand should not be one to be discussed. At the moment (y/n) decides to turn the attention upon Ivar and his new wife. It was obvious that she was hurt by it, however knowing my sister she would never admit that to a soul. She was moodier then I could remember her being, but it could just be the fact that people in England are moodier then everyone. “When and how did this come about, and why had we not heard sooner about this union Ivar. Where you hiding your wife from me? Or did you simply want to take us by surprise when you brought your whore to a place where my children reside? Huh!” (Y/n) says while she stands up, rage very much evident in her eyes.
At that the room became silent and servants who seemed shocked and outright astonished by the fact that (y/n) was behaving this way. Arthur stood up from his throne and pulled her body into his as a way to try to calm her down, but we knew that it would not be so easy. “Control yourself (y/n), please. This is not good for you and you know it. The doctor said you should rest and not become stressed. Please I beg of you, listen to me and stand down.” Arthur whispers into her ear. After what seems like ages (y/n) looks down and Arthur softens his hold on her. A quiet Im sorry leaves her lips and she walks out of the room towards what seems to be her quarters. I would have to check up on her, this was very unsalted behaviour for her and it worried me.
Arthur clears his throat and asks the servants to shows us to our rooms, but not before asking Ivar to stay behind. “Ivar, please stay. I would like to have a word with you and apologize for my wife’s behaviour towards you both.” As everyone moves Freydis seems to stay in her place by Ivar’s side. Obviously not getting the fact that she was not part of the conversation that was to be had. “Alone.” Arthur says while facing the window and his back to them. Something that I knew bothered Ivar very much...Authority and power which he could do nothing about.
---------------------
Arthur’s POV
“So, what is it that you wanted to speak to me about, besides your wife’s ridiculous outburst?...Your majesty.” Ivar says through gritted teeth. Turning around I keep my face stoic as ever, however all I wanted was to punch this man in the face for all the pain and suffering he had not only caused my wife, but her people as well. I had heard of Ivar’s actions against his people from my spies in Kattegat and from Bjorn himself. I knew that the once respect that I held for this man had gone out the window the moment he started burning everyone who opposed him. “Come, I wish to show you something out on the balcony.” I say to him as I walk without waiting for his reply. I can feel his eyes burning holes into my skull, but I care not for this as I have more pressing matters at hand.
Stepping out onto the balcony I look over the lands that had been bestowed upon me by my father. “These lands, were given to me by my father, who which in turn got them from his father, and so on. One day when (y/n) and I are gone these lands shall go to Erik or Marjorie... Our children.” In this moment Ivar scoffs and I could see him roll his eyes at me. “Your children? We both know who damn well! Fathered those children Arthur! It wouldn't take much to see the resemblance between us!” He yells at my direction. “I invited you to my home so that my wife would be able to see her family once again away from the dangers of Kattegat! But I now see that it was a mistake to invite you here. Erik and Marjorie are not and will never be yours! And on top of that you come with a “wife” who's sole purpose of your marriage was to get your mind off of my wife! MY WIFE! Whom shall never be yours!” I yell at him as my patience wears thin. Unable to hold back the anger and resentment I feel towards him anymore, I grab him by the collar and push him towards the railing. Grabbing him so that he may not fall, but just enough to try and scare him.
However, I underestimated him and feel my footing quickly fall from beneath me. Ivar then lunges himself on top of me and begins to throw punches left and right. I dodge and fight back as much as I can, but he is able to get a couple of punches in. Spotting an opportunity I quickly flip us over and start punching him for everything he has done. At this point I see red and fear that there will be nothing to stop me from killing him. Except my wife. “Arthur! Let him go! What are you doing!” She says as she runs towards us. In that moment I forgot about ivar and stared at my wife, but it only took a second for Ivar to kick me and cause me to crash against the railing itself. “Ugh!” Before I could lunge myself at him (y/n) threw herself in front of him. And I stopped dead in my tracks. How could I have been so foolish to think that she could have ever loved me back. To think that we could have actually had something. NO! She will always choose him, she will always choose Ivar.
Your POV
I couldn't let them go on. I couldn’t let my husband kill the man that I once loved. No matter how much he deserved it, but Arthur didn't understand that. He didn't understand that I had put Ivar behind me and that now all I wanted and all I needed was him. Arthur looked like as if his world had been flipped upside down and like his heart had been ripped out of his chest, by me. Shaking his head he looks down and heads inside. Not before stopping and turning around to face Ivar one last time. “If you ever utter the words that Erik and Marjorie are yours, I will not hesitate to kill you on the spot. Im done showing mercy and being the fool.” And with that he walks inside bloodied and leaving me astonished. “(y/n), I...” “Shut up! Just shut up! How dare you! Did I not warn you that something like this would happen! You need to stop Ivar, Erik and Marjorie are not yours and will never be! Arthur has been the father that they need and deserve. You on the contrary will never be their father, because all you do is bring me pain!” I yell at him through the tears that fall down my face like a cascade.
“How could I have proven to you that I could be great father, when you didn't even give me a chance! I gave you a way out of the situation you were in! I told you that we could have run away together and lived together as a family away from it all. But you! You decided that I wasn't good enough for you!” He says standing up from the ground cradling his side, obviously showing that Arthur had got in a good punch or two. “I couldnt have and you know it! Floki he...” I begin to say before I stop myself and think about that night. “What! What did he say to you (y/n)! What lies are you gonna spew out about the only man that has ever cared for me my entire life!” He says getting extremely close to me, his eyes showing hints of a side to him that I had never come across but had heard from the gossip and read from the letters Bjorn sent to Arthur. “Your precious Floki threatened me with your life and that of everyone who is close to me, if I didn't leave Kattegat! So yes! Blame me Ivar for being so selfish that I placed your life and the lives of everyone I cared about before my own!” With that I left Ivar standing there in the balcony by himself, just like I had left him that night 4 years ago.

“What do you need of me, my queen?” Freydis said to Aslaug. “Ivar and his brothers shall be visiting England fairly soon and I will need you to be my eyes and ears into everything that occurs there. I wish to know exactly what (y/n) and her husband have been up to, I hear that their union had been blessed with children. Find out more about them and if you ever get a chance, take this.” Aslaug says as she pull out a vial. “This will ensure your reign as Queen of Kattegat and will finally put an end to that Christian child. I do not care of she's miles away, while she breathes Ivar will never be yours. And he will never grow to be the man that I wish him to be.” Aslaug says with a cold heart and an even colder face. “But, she's of no danger to me. Ivar is mine and he always will be, its been fated by the gods themselves.” Freydis says giving the vile back. In that moment Floki comes out from the shadows. “I have lost all whom I care about, because of (y/n). Ragnar, Bjorn, Ivar and Helga have all turned their back on me because of her. I was forced to kill my own wife because of what she did in order to save this child. And you too will lose, if you do not comply with our demands.” He says whilst placing the vial back into Freydis’ palm. “You must do this if not for us, then for Ivar and all of the gods.”
Who knew the Return of a Ragnarsdottir would cause so much shit?!
part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 part 8 part 9 Part 10
A little something I came up with a couple of days ago :) Ultimately it will be Ivar x Reader, but I plan to throw in some Hvitserk in there too :)
Enjoy my crappy writing!! And lemme know if you want to be tagged when the next one comes out :)
It had been awhile since your skin had been touched by the salty and cold air of the port in Kattegat. 6 years to be exact. You were 13 when you had decided to run away from home, away from your family, and away from everything you knew. “I wonder if they’ll remember me. It’s been years since I've seen them.” you said out loud to yourself. “Lady (Y/N) don't trouble yourself with such negative thoughts, I'm sure they'll be happy to see you after all this time” said Mira.
Mira had been your lady in waiting and most trusted friend for the last 3 years. Your encounter occurred when you were staying in Frankia with your Uncle Rollo who was like a second father to you. Mira came from a middle class family that was looking for ways to better their social standing, and when she was brought to you as a lady in waiting it was an instant connection. Mira was like a sister you always wanted.
A loud thump wakes you up from your current state of mind. The realization hits that the ship has docked and now it is time to face the life you left all those years ago. “Are you ready to face them (Y/N)?” Mira says whilst giving you a comforting hug. “Not really, but I have nothing to lose.” Both you and Mira head up to the main dock, but as soon as you open the door you can only feel the anxiety wash over you. Kattegat is beautiful even more beautiful than you remember. People are smiling and dancing on the street. Children are playing and laughing whilst they run through the marketplace. The flowers hanging from the houses and from the great hall, can only indicate that it’s the Spring Festival. How is it that the happiest time of the year brings you nothing but sorrow?
-----------------------
As you and Mira make your way off the ship and down on to the dock, you can only clutch the silver cross that hung around your neck. It had been gifted to you by Ragnar when you were born and you had wore it around your neck since before you could remember. A silent prayer goes through your mind in hopes that you are able to face your family and go back to how things were once before. Mira and you wore dark hooded cloaks that covered your faces. This way, you gave your self more reassurance that no one would recognize you. Once your feet touch the paved road the memory that you've held onto about your birthplace came flooding back.
“Bjornnnnnn! Give it backkkkk!” A 6 year old (y/n) yells. Bjorn Lothbrok, your older brother. His favourite pass times include fishing, torturing you, sparring with both Ragnar and Lagertha, and torturing you again. “You're too slow (y/n), at this rate you’ll never survive during a raid. You cant even get this stupid bear back.” It was true you weren't the fastest or the strongest for that matter, but Ragnar always said that you had a bigger purpose in life than anyone else, and that your brain was your secret weapon. “Bjorn, give your sister back her teddy bear. Now!” Your mother Lagertha said. She was a beautiful and fierce shield-maiden, and all you wanted was to be like her. You couldn't comprehend how lucky you had been to get such a wonderful mother. As for your father, Ragnar Lothbrok...an amazing warrior. He was rarely ever home and every time you asked Lagertha she would just say he was off fighting in yet another raid. But for a little six year old you knew better. However, you couldn't deny the fact that the times he was home he treated you like a princess bringing you gifts from wherever he went whether they were dresses or shiny jewels you always gushed about them.
---------------------
Those were certainly happier times and all you wished was to turn back time and stay in those happier moments. Before you knew it your ass was on the floor and you were holding your head. “(Y/N)! Are you alright?!” Mira yells while trying to help you stand. “I’d be better if you weren't making me go deaf.” Unbeknownst to you and Mira, who were deep into an argument about who was more stupid, you fail to realize what had caused you to fall on your ass.
“(Y/N)? You’re alive?!”
Your whole world stopped and at that moment all you could do was stare into the intense and shocked eyes of your older brother.
Okay y'all here's Part 4. OMG I cannot believe the amount of love that this story has gotten😍 it truly warms my heart, that an idea I had a while ago and have now just started writing has been loved by so many of you:) And with that lets get on to the storyyyy
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 part 8 part 9
Disclaimer: My sucky ass writing as always:) Some slight insinuation of incest; Fluff (an attempt anyway); And bad grammar and spelling (sorryyyy); Heart palpitations according to @yanii-the-hippie 😂 Hope you all enjoy☺️
Your POV
My head hurts so much that I feel as if I've just been hit by a carriage. The sounds of arguing around me do not help the situation at all. So I try to not focus on the pain or the voices around me that won't subside and remember what happened. Images of Mira surface in my mind. Her corpse on the floor and the death rune carved into her back. My best friend and most trusted subject was killed because of me. I can't help but wince at the realization that I will never be rid of the death and chaos that I bring everywhere with me.
Fluttering my eyes open, my eyes wander looking for the source of those voices. As I begin to stand up from the very comfortable bed, I scan the room trying to find any trace of the people who were in here earlier. My eyes land on a pile of shirts neatly placed on the table. Walking towards them I come to notice that Im not in my dress anymore, but in what's seems to be a mans shirt. “Nice pair of legs you got there (y/n), wanna trade with me for a while?” At the sound of Ivars voice, I shriek and turn around whilst trying to pull down the shirt that is covering my body. “Ivar what the hell!” At the sound of my screaming Ivar just walks closer to me with a smirk gracing his perfect face. “W..what are you doing?!?!” His hands grasp onto mine and all I can do at that moment is stare back at him with my eyes and mouth open wide in shock. “You're gonna ruin my shirt if you continue to pull it down. Plus, you don't want me to see your breasts now do you?” At that, all the blood from my body rushes to my face. Turning me as red as an apple.
Ivar grabs my face in his hands and his eyes scan over it. “I know we’ve just met. And its probably really wrong for me to feel what I‘m feeling, considering you're my sister. But, when you were unconscious it was probably the hardest thing I have gone through so far in my life. Not knowing if you would wake up was a nightmare that I could not wake up from.” Ivar says with an exasperated sigh. “Ivar....” I begin to say, but am soon interrupted by his lips placed on mine. I know I shouldn't reciprocate his feelings towards me or his kiss for that matter. But, the fact of the matter is that even in this short amount of time, this man has made feel things that I have not felt in my whole life. This man however is my brother and that is something that will not change. Soon the warmth of his soft and plump lips leave mine. Before I can say something about how inappropriate that was, Ivar is already walking towards the door. You know for a cripple he’s fairly fast.
“You know (y/n) I’m so excited for what's in store in our future.” He says as he reaches the door. Rearing his head to where I still stand in utter shock of what just transpired seconds ago. “Especially, since we now share a room.” At that Ivar winks at me and leaves the room, with that smirk on his face. Once the door is closed my legs give out from underneath me. “Lord what have I just gotten myself into. It is wrong for me to have these sort of thoughts and feelings for my brother. Please give me the strength necessary in order to get through this.” As I look up and close my eyes I can only beg that he hears my prayer and somehow gives me the power to get through this. But knowing the almighty, something will happen.
------------------------------------------
As the weeks went on by, we had buried Mira the Christian way. Although nearly no one shared my beliefs, it felt nice to be able to have Mira been given the respect she deserved. People had brought flowers and different types of gifts to me in order show me their condolences. On the outside I had to be strong and show them that whoever did this had not gotten to me. However, my family knew all too well the toll it took on me. Especially Ivar, who would hold me at night and whisper sweet nothings into my ear when I had the recurring nightmare of that night. The raid that was supposed to occur after the festival was cancelled. I had expected many people to be upset at the fact that it was. But what I saw was a community come together for someone they did not know. And that is what I missed the most about Kattegat. The people. My people.
Ragnar, Bjorn, and Ubbe had decided to lead an investigation into who had murdered Mira. So far they had gotten a couple of leads, but nothing that would certainly pinpoint who the culprit was. In his worry my father had decided to teach me how to fight, so that I would be able to defend myself if it came down to it. He knew that this was a personal attack on me. And a personal attack on a son or daughter of Ragnar Lothbrok was an attack on him too. “Come on my beautiful sister, we have some more training to do.” I can hear Hvitserk say as he comes up from behind me. “Is that really necessary Hvitty? We trained yesterday!” On the weeks that went by I could say that Hvitty and I got really close. Closer than probably me and Ivar are. After the kiss with Ivar, I had tried to put as much distance between myself and him. What we had done was wrong and a sin. And I could not allow myself to give in to such temptations.
However, that doesn't mean that Ivar still didn’t try to get closer to me. Every chance he got I var would hold my hand or hug me from behind. I knew that people where beginning to get the wrong idea, as I had caught Margrethe talking about how “close” we were for siblings. As soon as I heard that I began to make sure to only talk or look at Ivar if necessary. Waking me up from my thoughts Hvitserk takes my hand and leads me out of the hall. “Im coming. Im coming. Calm down!” I cannot help but contain my laugh at Hvitserk’s desire to want to train with me. Its probably the cutest thing I have ever seen. “You look like a child anxious to play with a brand new toy, Hvitty.” At that Hvitserk lets out a chuckle. “Only of you're the brand new toy and I get to play with you everyday.” he winks at me as he says this. “Come on you're distracting me, let’s get to work. Legs shoulder width apart and make sure you have good balance...”
-----------------------------------
Bjorn POV
“We must have gotten somewhere by now! I want whoever is responsible dead!” my father screams at Ubbe and I. “Father, we've searched through and through, but there are no certain leads! Its a he said she said situation thus far!” Ubbe yells back at him. “Do not tell me what I already know, boy! I just cannot help but feel useless and like I am not able to protect my own. We all know that that was supposed to be your sister dead, not that poor girl.” at that he trails off. My father has lost way too much over the years. Many friends have come and gone. But the way we buried Mira, could only remind him of his best friend Athelstan. The Christian priest that changed his life (and mine believe it or not) for the better. He was murdered too, and that has always been a constant reminder to him of someone he could not save.
“What I think that we should be doing instead of arguing is perhaps, finding someone who is good at unmasking people. Since none of us can seem to find who it could be.” I tell them both, getting tired of their back and forth arguing. “And who would you suggest Bjorn. No one can know that (y/n) is here, besides the people of Kattegat. Our enemies will know how to get us. Hell one of them probably was behind this!” my father reciprocates. “I think we all know who I’m talking about. Im just wondering if you'll be able to reel in and control that bitch of yours, when she gets here. Since I’ve already sent word to her.” I bark back at my father. I don't know if its because im sick of him treating me as if ill never be good enough. Or because (y/n)’s life is on the line, but I had never found the courage to stand up to my father, until now. At my words my father becomes silent. It might the loads of ale Ive had today, but I swear that I can see what seems to be pride in his eyes. “How long?” “One day’s ride” It is then that my father shouts to the thralls...
“Prepare the great Hall! The Queen is coming home!”
--------------------------------
Your POV
As the hours went by and my training had somewhat gotten better, I pleaded with Hvitserk to do something else. “Okay!Okay! We’ll stop training! But what else do you want to do?” Hvitserk's says shielding his sword. “I don't know, back in Frankia Uncle Rollo used to take me to the lake and taught me how to swim. Is there a lake nearby?” At that Hvitserk looks at me like I‘ve grown horns and a huge smile breaks out. “Come on, let’s eat quickly and then I have somewhere I wanna take you!” Rushing towards me Hvitserk grabs my hand and we quickly run off towards the great hall. Once we both quickly swallow our food, we head to the stables. There we find non other than Ivar in what seems to be him being pleasured by a thrall.
“Oh, Im so sorry. We didn't mean to intrude.” I say whilst quickly turning around. “Awww you're so cute (y/n), you’ve never seen or been pleasured before?!?!? Is that why you're as red as a tomato right now?” Hvitserk chuckles at me while trying to pry my hands away from my face. “Shut upppp!! Hvitty, get the horse and lets goooo!!” I chuckle nervously at him. “Its ok (y/n), you should take notes from Margrethe here. Who knows you might have to use them some day.” Ivar manages to say through his... compromising position. “Well Ivar, (y/n) and I are gonna go on a little adventure. Don't wait up...” At that Hvitserk grabs the reins on the horse and passes them on to me. “You know how to ride (y/n)?.” “Of course, Hvitty. Its literally my favourite thing to do.” “I’m glad to hear that. Now lets go!” And with that Hvitserk and I were off to God knows where. But one thing I knew for sure was that if Hvitserk was involved, we were sure to have a good time.
Bjorn POV
Soon the day had gone by and it was just a matter of time before my mother was here. You could hear a pin drop in the great hall. The anxiousness that lingered in the air was so thick that you could probably cut it with a knife. My father could not stop bouncing his leg, some thing he did when he too was nervous or didn't know the outcome of certain events. My head quickly towards the doors when I heard the neighing and hooves of the horses. At that we all stood up and thats when both Ubbe and I noticed we were missing certain people. “Ivar, where's (y/n) and Hvitserk? They're supposed to be here or did you not tell them that we would have company tonight?” I whisper at him trying to not get noticed by father or Aslaug. “Probably fucking somewhere. You know they've gotten pretty close these past few weeks I wouldn't put it past them.” At that I just look at him shocked. “Are you sure it’s just him Ivar? Don't act like I haven’t caught you staring at our sister when she's taking bath or when she's walking around the market.” Sigurd chimes in. “Whatever we will resume this conversation after this. But send someone to get those two here. NOW!”
When I turn back I am able to see my father already walking towards the door with the family behind him. Making my way outside I catch a glimpse of my mother on horseback. The most beautiful woman to grace the earth and the most skilled in combat. She taught me everything I know and for that I could never thank her enough. Behind me came up my wife Torvi, I smile down at her and hold her hand. She knows that I will do anything for my family, especially my mother and sister. And I will protect them at any cost. As my mother gets down from her horse I immediately go towards her and give her a hug. “You know that surprise I told you about in the letter. Well, I have an even better one now.” I say whilst chuckling in her ear. “My son, how many times do I need to tell you that Im not so easily surprised.” She laughs back at me. You don’t know what's in store mother...
After much due catching up with my mother. It’s time to get down to business. Father fills mother in about the fact that there has been a murder the night go the spring festival. My mother begins to ask questions on how we've conducted the investigation, to which Ubbe fills her in. I cant seem to pry my eyes away from the doors. Hoping that my sister and brother walk into the hall safely. It’s been hours and no one has heard or seen of them. “Bjorn, are you okay? You're not really focused on the matter at hand?” Torvi says while placing her hand on my knee. “Yeah...Yeah, Im fine just a little anxious thats all.” At that she leaves it alone. It is then that we hear some jugs fall over and loads of laughter. “Hvitty get upppp. Everyone is gonna knowwww....” I can hear the slurs of my younger sister. “Pfttt.. Like they careeee, were just having some funnnn....” Great these two are drunk of their asses and dropping shit everywhere. It is then that they both enter the hall. (Y/n) is carrying Hvitserk, in what seems to be a futile attempt to act normal. But when her eyes land on the blonde graying hair of our mother she drops Hvitserk and immediately you can see that she sobers up.
“Mama...”
At that my mother stops talking. And her eyes begin to well up with tears. “No. it cannot be. It’s the gods playing tricks on me.” My mother says whilst looking down, refusing to turn around. My father gets up from his chair and kneels beside my mother. “It is true. She is here, come with me. I promise you she will not be taken from you again.” My father’s voice cracks at the end. As I truant where my sister stands I can see the pan and suffering coursing through her body. Her eyes show a small child that was ripped from her safe place and placed in an evil and hungry world, that only wanted to make her suffer. As my mother and father stand up I catch a glimpse of Aslaug and her stone cold face. That is filled with rage and what seems to be a predatory glare towards my sister. Trying to put it to rest and not say anything, I turn towards my parents. My father holds may mother in his arms as to keep her from falling over. “ My baby girl. Tell me that this was not dream that Ive had for the past 6 years and that you're actually here with me.” My mother manages to say through her tears. But,(y/n) is barely able to get anything out through her sobs. All she does is run to where my mother and father stand and embraces them. At that they all fall to the floor in their embrace. Hvitserk is now standing beside me. Watching, with the rest of us the reunion of a mother with her child. In my daze of being focused on my parents and sister reuniting I fail to realize that both Torvi and Aslaug are missing......
Aslaug POV
“She should have been dead!!! What part of kill the insolent bastard child do you not understand!” I scream at Torvi. “You did not tell me that she was the daughter of Ragnar and Lagertha. Much less Bjorn's sister!” I had ordered Torvi to kill (y/n) so that what I had done that night many years ago, would not come back to haunt me or my family. I did this in order to protect them. That insolent child will only bring death with her. The death of our gods. And that is something I will not allow. I had faked to not have known about her existence all that time ago, but I cannot put past me the prophecy that was foretold by the volva. I will do anything in my power to make sure that she gets nowhere near my sons. For I rather die then see an era were Vikings and Christians alike are one people.... “When Helga and Floki get to the dock. Report back to me immediately and tell Floki that he has an unfinished job from 6 years ago.” As I stare at my husband and his so called “family” I cannot help, but get a bad feeling about this.
That Christian child will pay for coming between my family....

Arthur POV
In a matter of seconds I caught (y/n) in my arms. I felt horrible about this whole situation. I knew that she never wanted to be in an arranged marriage...she wanted to fall in love. This is why this whole situation killed me. I was the reason my best friend wouldn’t be happy and I couldn't live with that, but I had too. My country and my father needed me, this marriage would secure an alliance with both Frankia and Kattegat, but she would be caught in a situation she wouldn't want and that kills me inside. Holding her close I look towards her father and uncle as to ask for permission to take her to one of their rooms here. “Here, take her to mine... It’s where she's been staying for the past couple of months...” says the dark haired one that was sitting with her earlier. He’s been eyeing me since I walked through the doors and I have a feeling we won't be the best of friends. Not paying much attention to the eery feeling I’m getting, I balance (y/n) in my arms and follow the young prince. Reaching the doors to the room, I make my way inside after him. Walking towards the bed I place her down and then turn towards him. I find him staring at me with what seems like rage and jealousy in his eyes. Why would he be jealous? It’s his sister, he should be glad that she's at least engaged to someone she knows and not some strange old man...
“Could you perhaps see if one of the thralls could get me a bucket of water and a clean cloth? I want to make sure she's okay and doesn't get a fever.” Without any expression on his face he slams the door on his way out. Turning towards her on the bed, I catch a small strand of her (y/h/c) hair and tuck it away behind her ears. “Im so sorry that you have to go through this... I wish there was another way...” It wasn't until I felt her hands caress my cheeks that I knew she was awake and alright.“Arthur, it is not your fault. Someone has been out to get me since I stepped foot back in Kattegat, if anything you’re my salvation.” The tears in my eyes fell down my cheeks like a waterfall. I embraced her and whispered sweet nothings into her ear. Whether it was to calm myself or her I could not tell by now. All I knew was that I would do anything to protect her, even if that meant laying down my life for her.
Your POV
My mind still had not processed and grabbed onto the dire state of this situation. Arthur was to be my husband. A younger version of myself could probably not contain her happiness, but now... Now I feel lost and indecisive. On one hand Arthur is the most magnificent person in this world. He’s my best friend and we know each other to our very cores. In the other however is Ivar. The one person besides Arthur that I can really be myself around. However, that what intrigues me about him is his mysterious and eery vibe. Arthur is my comfort and safe space, but Ivar is the unknown. And Im intrigued by the fact that I still haven't figured him out. He truly challenges me and that excites me in every way possible...
“Im sorry, to interrupt you love birds, but if the damsel in distress is finally alright father would like us all to meet in the town square.” Ivar’s voice booms throughout the once quiet bedroom. At the sound of his voice I quickly let go of our embrace and turn towards Ivar with shock in my eyes. Ivar only looked at me for 3 seconds with no emotion in his eyes and left the room. It felt like my heart shattered in that instant. I had hurt him, unintentionally. But, I still hurt him.
All I could do was stare at the spot where he once stood. Unbeknownst to me, Arthur saw our whole interaction. “It’s him isn't it?” He asked me while looking out towards the window. “Huh?” “He's the one you're in love with right?” At his words I couldn't come up with an excuse. I couldn't deny it, I wouldn't deny it. Not to Arthur, he knew everything about me. And I knew everything about him and the love he always held for me. “He’s your brother (y/n), it will never work. Let alone it is a sin against God.” He voiced to me. “I know... But I cannot get rid of this feeling. Ive tried to let him go, believe me I tried. But, every time that I get close to leaving him behind, he pulls be right back in and I don’t want to leave anymore. I love him...” Tears fell down my cheeks by this moment. I didn't have anyone that I could tell these things to, since Mira was killed. She was usually the one I would be all sappy around, but I couldnt hold it in anymore. Arthur sighed and kneeled in front of me. “Although I may not approve of your choice and wish that it had been me that would receive that kind of love from you once again. I understand and will support you no matter what. Even if that means losing the love of my life.” Arthur places his soft tender lips on my forehead. And with that he grasps my hand in his and we walk towards the door. Neither one of us acknowledging the fact that he just admitted that he was in love with me.
--------------------------------
Bjorn POV
I couldn’t believe it. That piece of scum had destroyed by family once again. Why was it that Aslaug had it out for my sister so much? Staring out towards what once was a place filled with happy memories, I cannot help but let myself breakdown. The tears that Ive held back for years poured out of my eyes. The rejection, the disappointment and the overbearing feeling that I could not protect my sisters once again took over me. “Why! Why is it that you make me suffer this way! Have I not done enough for you! Have I not conquered lands in your name and murdered millions with my sword to earn a place in Valhalla! And for what? For you to come and take my family from me once again!” My sobs couldn't be heard by anyone. But it felt good to finally let out all this anger and sadness that I had been struggling with throughout most of my life. From the cliff I could see a perfect view of Kattegat. Especially the square, where our family and the people of Kattegat were now gathered. My father would announce the marriage of my sister to Arthur. He was a good man, but he wasn't the one for her. She loved Ivar and it was evident. I knew my sister more than anyone on this earth and I knew 100% that they loved each other. What impeded them form being together however was the fact that they were siblings. But in truth they weren't and that was something that I had to tell them...
-------------------------------
As I approach the square I can hear the voice of my father. Booming, and making its way through the square. Out the corner of my eye I could see Torvi making her way towards me. We were playing happy family in front of everyone, but earlier in the week I had asked her for a divorce. I could not be with someone who would hurt my family deliberately, no matter what. “Hey, your father has been looking for you everywhere they're about to announce your sister’s engagement.” She says excitedly. “I know” with that short reply I shake her hands off of my arm and make my way towards my family. (Y/n) is standing beside Arthur sneaking glances over to where Ivar stands, beside Aslaug. I can tell that he is doing his best to ignore her, but you can see the pain in his eyes as well. Aslaug looks as triumphant as ever. A huge smile graces her lips and at that my blood begins to boil. “Bjorn! Over here!” (y/n) calls me over a huge smile on her lips when she sees me walking over. At that I feel myself calm down, my sisters are the only people that could ever achieve to bring me down from the edge. Not even my mother could do so and that is why we have such a special bond and why this hurts me so much. I know that its for her own protection, but the thought of losing (y/n) again is something unfathomable to me. Something that I wish was not a reality, but has sadly become one. “Bjorn, thank you for being here. It truly means a lot to me to be able to depend and count on you. Now more than ever. I hope that the ties between England, Frankia and Kattegat may now be stronger and unwavering.” Arthur says whilst shaking my hand. I respect him, he's a good man that I know will take care of (y/n) and for that I did not oppose this union. “Thank you, as do I Arthur. All I can hope for is that you make my sister happy. And that she will have everything she deserves and desires. Free from persecution from those we call family...” I murmur the last part just so that she can hear what Im implying.
Your POV
Could it be? Were Bjorn’s assumptions true? Could Aslaug truly be the one behind all of this? My father’s announcement of my engagement went by as quick as the breeze. I couldn’t even tell if he had finished or not till I hear the cheering of our people. The wedding was to be held later on in the week, I tried my best to put on a fake smile so that no one knew how I was truly feeling inside. But in truth I was devastated, the fact that I would not only marry someone I wasn't in love with, but the fact I had to flee from my home again was killing me inside. And the mother of the man I loved could have very well been behind it all...
As the people begin to celebrate I murmur to Arthur that I will retire early to my bedchambers. He only nods and gives me a sad smile seemed with a kiss on my forehead. I quickly rush to my room and shut the door behind me. Throwing myself on the bed I scream and let all of my frustration out onto the pillows that hold mine and Ivar’s heads at night. Hugging them close trying to imprint that scent into my memory as hard as I can. I did not notice the dark hooded figure that was behind me and that was my mistake. “(Y/n) Lothbrok... Long time no see” My whole body is drained of its (s/t) colour and that is when I turn around facing the man that haunted my dreams since I was a small child.
“F..Floki...”
Ivar’s POV
I can't believe that the one person that I have grown to love is now being ripped away from me. This must be a sick joke that Odin is playing with me. It cannot be that when I have become so close to finding true happiness that it is ripped away from me so easily. No! I will not stand for this! Making my way away from the so called “celebrations” I begin to walk towards our room. Before I could prance in and let (y/n) know that we would be running away tonight. My mouth is covered and I am too pulled into another room. Ready to kill whoever has pulled me I begin to reach for my knife. “I swear to Odin, if you try and stab me I will kill you Ivar...” Bjorn says before letting go of me. Before I could scream at him however, Bjorn continues. “Do not scream or talk until I get this out please. And this information that I am about to share with you is very sensitive and is known by only a few members of our family so hush. You understand puppy?” Nodding at him in disbelief, I motion for him to continue. It is then that he proceeds to tell me about how he had met (y/n) and the day that she was born. “That’s all nice Bjorn, but what do I care about the day of our sister’s birth?” I say a bot irritated at the fact that I could've been half way gone by now with (y/n) if he had not pulled me in here.
“You're gonna care when I tell you that I will no longer stand in your way, or be against you both being together. I see the way you look at each other and its the same way that my parents looked at each other before your mother got in the way.” I roll my eyes at his last remark. “Ivar, I beg you to take (y/n) away as far away from here as possible. Especially away from your mother. She's the one behind all the killings and she is willing to do anything to get (y/n) not only away from here and our family. But if possible out of this world.” Anger rises in me and I begin to shake. “Why is it that my mother is always the one to get shit on. She’s a beautiful woman that would not hurt anyone or anything. The fact that you have gone touch lengths to try and make some story up about she wants (y/n) dead is absurd. But I will entertain your stupid idea, just because I’m curious Bjorn. Now, tell me why is it that my mother wishes to kill our sister?”
“Because Ivar, (y/n) isn't our sister. She's the priest’s daughter. Our father’s best friend that your mother ordered Floki to kill... Which is why he’s been gone so long. It was a plot to kill the only proof that Vikings and Christians could co-exist. They wanted to make sure that no one would know about the Christian-Viking child and they would do anything to protect that.” After hearing Bjorn out, I knew that there was some truth to what he was saying. My mother and Floki hated the Christian God and would do anything to erase him from the minds of our people. I made my way out the room where Bjorn and I were and made my way to mine. Turning the doorknob I find that the room is locked and rustling and screaming could be heard on the other side. Panicked set in and I tried hurling myself on the door multiple times in order to break it down, but it would budge.
The real panic set in when the rustling and screaming stopped. For then I knew that I was too late...
Disclaimer: Not very detailed Smut (attempt)😂, angst, spelling and grammar mistakes😬 Also want to thank all of you for taking the time to read my series and one shots it truly means a lot :) Anyway here’s part 6...
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 7 part 8 part 9 Part 10
“Ragnar I have a favour to ask of you. One which I know I shouldn’t ask, but have been given no other choice.” Athelstan pleads with Ragnar deep in the forests of Kattegat. “ Athelstan you have been my slave and taken my orders without question. But you are now like a brother to me, whatever it is we will get through it together. Ragnar rests his hand on Athelstan’s shoulder in a show of sympathy. God knows how many times that Ragnar has been in compromising positions and Athelstan has been there for him through thick and thin. Looking out towards the rest of the trees, Athelstan’s breath becomes ragged. “I..I have a child... A baby girl. But I cannot take care of her Ragnar. I’m not supposed to father any children...” Athelstan chokes through his sobs. in this moment Ragnar is left at a loss for words. From what he has gathered from Athelstan over the years he knows that priests are not supposed to father children. “What do you expect me to do Athelstan? You want me to kill your child? Is she as ugly as you?” Ragnar tries to lighten up the situation. Athelstan laughs at Ragnar’s remarks, he knows that this is how Ragnar is. “I want you and Lagertha to raise her... I know how hard it was for both of you when you lost Gyda and almost lost Bjorn. This would be a second chance for you both. And not only that, but God would favour you for your kindness. Please Ragnar, promise me you will do this for me. I want no harm o come to her...” Taking a moment to think about his words, Ragnar looks up to the sky, as if the answer will come to him if he does. “I’ll do it... But she cannot know that you are her father Athelstan. As you have said she is in danger if people were to find out of this information...” Hugging each other Athelstan and Ragnar exchange looks. It does not matter where I go Ragnar... I will always be with you and your family.”
“Our family Athelstan... You're a part of it as well...”
Present...
Your POV
Thinking back to the conversation Ivar and I had earlier I cannot help but smile. Not only just a couple of hours ago had he asked me to runaway with him. I told him I would take some time to think about it, because of my parents and Bjorn. I don’t want to hurt them by leaving again without any explanation. However, I wanna spend the rest of my life with Ivar. He’s the man I want to be with for the rest of my life. He may be my brother, but I cannot help or choose whom I love... Moving to face Ivar on the bed, I begin to trace his jawline with my fingers. From there my finger trails to his plump lips and without realizing it, I licked and bit my own. Thinking of how his soft lips would feel all over my skin. “You know baby girl, if you want a piece of this you just have to say so...” At that Ivar grasps your waist and places you on top of him. His hardness very evident and the glint of mischief in his eyes tells you everything. “Ivar! What are you doinggg... someone can walk in a see us.” You begin to say frantically whilst wiggling around on top of him trying to escape his grasp. “Keep wiggling like that (y/n) and you won’t be able to walk for the next 2 weeks and we’ll have to postpone our plans to runaway...”
Heat creeps up to your cheeks and you can feel the heat take over your body in an instant. Ivar’s hands travelled all over your body, caressing each spot tenderly. Your body works on its own and leans into his hand which holds your face. As ivar rubs his thumb on your cheek you stare into his eyes and kiss the inside of his palm without breaking eye contact. His eyes turn to a cloudy shade of blue, lust evidently taking over. Acting on your impulses you bend down and press your lips onto his. At first Ivar is surprised that you initiated contact, but he quickly recovers, Moving in sync with you, Ivar slowly gets up and flips you both over. His hands slowly making their decent from between your breasts to the hem of your dress. Parting your lips for a second Ivar looks into your eyes. “Are you sure about this (y/n)? I don’t want to rush you into anything...” Getting impatient and fearing that this feeling will soon be over. You take his face into your hands and look at him with genuine love in your eyes. “I wouldst wanna give myself to anyone else, but you...” At that you close the gap between you and his hands travel up to your untouched area. Feeling Ivar’s fingers on your area gives you a sense of pleasure you had never felt before. Sure you had pleasured yourself once or twice, but it had never felt like this. Ivar breaks the kiss and moves to leave sweet and savoury kisses on your breasts. The feeling of his fingers pumping into you and the fondling of your breasts is so overwhelming that you cannot hold your moans any longer. “Shhhhh...(y/n) they're gonna hear you, And believe me as much as I would love defiling you, we cannot risk it for the time being...” Ivar says into your ear. You wish you could heed to his warnings, but the pleasure he brings you is too intense. After countless attempts to get you to be quiet, Ivar flips you over onto all fours and pushes your face into the furs. “This way you won't be screaming so loud that the whole of Kattegat will hear you.” You grip on the furs and brace yourself.
Ivar continues his mist rations and your muffled moans cheer him on. However, all good things must come to an end. The banging on the door makes you freeze and you become quite instantly. “Ivar, leave whatever thrall you’re in there with and hurry up. Father says to meet him by the docks. It’s important!” Hvitserk yells outside the door. “OH! And have you seen (y/n), we were supposed to gorging earlier, but she didn't show up. I hope she’s okay.” At that Ivar pulls his fingers from your delicate flower and lets you put on your clothes. “Okay, I’ll be out in a second! Oh and believe me brother when I tell you that our dear baby sister is not as innocent as she leads on to be!” Ivar yess back at him, while staring at you and giving you a wink. Pulling on your dress quickly, you rush towards the door to escape the embarrassment and shame you feel at this moment. Grabbing your wrist, Ivar pulls you back. “You cannot go out the door, they'll know exactly what was going on in here. You must go out a different way.” He whispers toy so that Hvitserk will not hear. “Ivar there is no other way, the only other way to get out is through.. No! I will not do it!” “You will or would you like to tell the whole of Kattegat about us?” He snaps back. Looking at him in disbelief you shake your head and move towards the window. Leaning over you are able to see the bushes and mud that await your fall.
“You owe me for this, I swear to God that I will kill you if I survive this.” As you were preparing yourself to jump, a pair of strong arms beat you to it and push you to the window. “Its not that big of a fall, just ask Hvitserk. He “falls” out the window all the time too.” Looking up at Ivar you give him the dirtiest look you can muster. He just grins back at you as if nothing were wrong and he makes his way out the door.
Now how were you gonna explain the branches on your hair and the mud on your dress to your family? “Well, this is gonna be interesting...”
-------------------------------------------
Managing to take out most of the branches on your head, you finally made it to the dock. As you approach your family, you walk past the same dark haired boy who had just pushed you out of a window, without a second glance. And all he doe sis snicker at your behaviour, and this just makes your blood boil even more. However, you could not lose it in front of your family. You had been taught by your Uncle Rollo that keeping your emotions in tact was key. Never let those around you see how you truly feel or else they will use it against you. You could still hear his voice loud and cleared you couldn't deny the fact that you missed him and Gisela dearly. You stand between Hvitserk and Bjorn, just in time for your mother and father to turn around to ask where on earth you had been. “I had a little incident on the way here, I apologize.” A snicker is heard form behind you and you could already tell who it belonged to. “Why are you laughing ivar, this is not funny. We have a very important visitor arriving in a few minutes.” Father scolds him. Hvitserk noticing the tension and awkwardness building up takes off his fur coat and places it around your shoulders. “Here this way they won't be able see the mud stains on your dress, and oh.. this little branch here.” He says whilst chuckling between you. You thank him by giving him a kiss on the cheek and holding his hand until whoever arrives gets here. Ivar was pissed, he knew exactly what you were doing, but he would not say anything to you. Well, here at least. He found himself thinking of all the ways to possibly punish you later and that brought a hint of darkness and lust int his stormy blue eyes.
As the minutes went by a ship could be seen approaching in the horizon. The closer it got, the bigger the anxiousness. Hvitserk squeezed your hand multiple times to somewhat show you that he was here for you. No matter what. You had caught Bjorn giving you tender looks as the ship approached. You could see what looked like sadness in swirling in his blue orbs. You had thought it had something to do with Torvi. Her and Bjorn were not currently speaking and he wouldn't tell you why. As the ship docks you see your father and mother approach it together. Aslaug standing by Ivar, by herself with that usual scowl that graced her face everyday. “Oh how good it is to be back home...” “Welcome back brother!” At the sound of that voice, your eyes glaze over. Turning quickly you look towards the sound of that voice. There he was. Your Uncle Rollo, your father for the last 6 years of your life. Letting go of Hvitserk’s hand you run across the dock in a matter of seconds. “Uncle!” You scream as you jump in his arms and he spins you around. “My little angel, oh how much we’ve missed you. Frankia is not the same without you. The court is not as lively and the people miss their princess...” He says into your ear. “We really have missed you (y/n). I missed that smile and sunshine.” Gisela says as she emerges from behind him, cradling a small bump. “OH my God, you're pregnant!” Your excitement clearly showing as you hug her carefully. “Lets all make our way to the Great Hall, it will be more comfortable for everyone to talk there.” Mother says as she holds Gisela and helps her walks towards the hall.
----------------------------------------
All gathered together you recount and tell your uncle and his wife what you have gone through the past few months. “Oh my God, why didn't you send for us sooner Ragnar! I would've taken her out of here immediately!” Rollo yells at my father. “I was catching up with my daughter and spending time with my whole family! Something I didnt get to do because of you!” Ragnar says standing up. At that you stand and let them both know that you will not tolerate such words and that it was no ones fault, but whoever’s was chasing you. At that they both sit, but you could tell they want clearly rough it out. A moment of silence goes on and Bjorn precedes to clear his throat. Getting everyone’s attention in the room, but the sadness in his eyes has returned and he doesn't take them off of you. “The reason we called you uncle is because her life is in danger. And as much as we want to be close you, we fear that whatever or whoever this is will not stop until you’re dead.” Stopping to breathe and looking towards father as if getting approval, Bjorn continues. “Another body was found dead yesterday. That makes a total of 5 bodies. And each of them had a carving, which we thought weren't related until we put them together. They spell out “THE CHRISTIAN CHILD MUST DIE”
Which is why father and I have decided that its best of your return with Uncle Rollo back to Frankia...” Bjorn’s words slowly become inaudible. Your head is shaking and you feel as if you're about to pass out. Looking towards Hvitserk you see that his eyes have gazed over and a few tears have already spilt, same goes with Ubbe and Sigurd. However, Ivar’s face is stone cold. There’s a sudden eery dark energy that looms over him and you want to comfort him, but the way he is right now scares you. “(y/n)? Are you okay? What do you think about all of this?” Gisela asks you, she had always been the one to ask you how you feel in situations. She treated you as an equal and not as a child which you appreciated considering that's all you had been seen as, by these men. “I don't wanna leave my family. But, I also don’t wanna place them in any danger...” You feel yourself choking on our own sobs and Hvitserk pulls you into his arms to calm you down. “We will be alright, as long as you're safe. Which is why we have decided that it’s time that you should start your own family. Away from all of this madness.” By getting married you would not only secure your future, but your protection (y/n)...” You felt as if your heart was being ripped out off your chest. Hvitserk gets you some ale to help you digest the whole situation and starts rubbing your back. You thank him, and your eyes dart towards the direction that Ivar once stood in. You thought that he had left you, but then you felt a hand on your shoulder and looking up there he was. Giving you a look of compassion now, you were that this man was 100% bipolar. The doors to the Great Hall open, but you cannot look towards it as your eyes are transfixed on your cup of ale. It is then that your Uncle Rollo proceeds to announce who is at the door. “(Y/n), surely you remember Arthur Pendragon. The son of Uther, they were always at court when you were younger.” Arthur Pendragon, your childhood crush and best friend before Mira. “You guys were like the three musketeers, always running around and causing trouble everywhere you went.” Lifting your gaze from the cup, they land on his frame. The small little boy you once knew was now a grown and very handsome young man. Getting up from your seat you feel Ivar’s hand on your knee clutching it as if telling you not to leave him. However, you shake him off, not to be rude to Arthur and your elders. Closing the gap you and Arthur embrace. “Arthur... Its been ages, how've you been and why have you come to Kattegat of all places?” “Can a man not miss his best friend and his fake wife?” I laugh at his comment and remember to when we got fake married under the Oak tree outside the palace. “In all seriousness we do have a lot to discuss actually...” He says giving you a smile and scratching the back of his head. In this moment Bjorn chimes in...
“(Y/n), we have come to a decision that it would be best that the man you marry is someone close to you and that you know. Arthur was suggested by Uncle Rollo and it seemed like the perfect fit.” Turning around you gaze at all of them praying that this is one sort of joke. “You and Arthur are to be married, my dear daughter. 2 full moons from today. And then you are to go back to Frankia to your estate...” As your father continues to talk, you feel the room spinning. As you try to find your balance your eyes connect with Ivar’s. Unknown emotions swirling in his eyes and you could tell that he was hurt, but his face wouldn't show it. Starring back at Arthur he gives you a sympathetic smile and thats the last thing you see before it all goes black...
