It starts with the 53rd Hunger Games...
Floki at the age of 14 is reaped into the Hunger Games as the male tribute from District 7. A tall and athletic boy it’s thought he’ll go far in the games, but was not one of the front runners to win. He’s quiet, and doesn’t make much of a showing during the interview. However, his accurate axe throwing skills in the private session earn him a high ranking.
After the Second Quater Quell the Gamemakers were tasked with making the next games following it as exciting as it had been (until the final confrontation). For the 53rd Games the Arena was a mountainous waterfall with varying levels. The water streamed for miles, very little try land, and welcoming caves that often held more dangers. The Cornucopia was placed in the lake at the top of the never ending waterfall, to reach it for feasts the tributes would have to climb to the top.
On the sixth day Floki found an axe on the body of a dead tribute who had fallen asleep and drowned. Within hours he had killed the female tribute from district 2 and the male tribute from district 6. He was injured by the careers, but survived the night. After his showing that day sponsors appeared much more eager.
Floki won the 53rd Hunger Games after 16 days. His final challenge was against the male tribute from district 4. They faced one another towards the top of the mountain. The tribute from district 4 had unarmed Floki and was trying to drown him when Floki found a rock at the bottom of the shallow stream they fought in. Floki smashed the rock against his head to take the upper hand. He beat the other tribute to death, becoming the victor.
It continues in the 73rd Hunger Games
No one suspects the daughter of a victor to be reaped. But curious things happen in district 7 during the reaping for the 73rd Hunger Games. Angrboda, 16, is reaped as the female tribute, and the youngest son of the mayor, Ivar, is reaped as the male tribute. There are some who believe the capitol is punishing two of the most powerful men in the district, Victor Floki and Mayor Ragnar. For what is unclear.
Angrboda’s role at the capitol is laid out from the start - she has to soften Ivar. She’s pushed to be seen taking care of him, never leave his side in the training area. She’s meek and mild to Ivar’s brash and wild. Her hair is always down, cascading over her shoulders to give her an angelic look. She’s dressed in all gold for her interview where she charms Caesar Flickerman with exaggerated tales of victory she’s heard from her father (now Ivar’s mentor), her wish to make him proud, and her goal to take care of Ivar for as long as she can.
She keeps up appearances. Her scores in the private session are rather low, as instructed to appear weak. She showed off her skills in healing using what would only be found in various types of arenas.
Angrboda hadn’t shown her speed at all in the training area. She sprinted almost as fast as the careers in the cornucopia. She didn’t get a kill but she injured at least three on her way to the supplies. She managed to get the knives Ivar needed and the supplies she wanted before escaping.
The other districts didn’t count on them.
