trump: I can report tonight that based on the best available information, the DHS is confident that the suspect in custody is a foreigner who entered our country from Afghanistan, a hellhole on Earth.
He was flown in by the Biden administration in September 2021, one of those infamous flights that everybody was talking about. Nobody knew who was coming in. Nobody knew anything about it. His status was extended under legislation signed by Biden.
Trump fails to mention that it was his administration earlier this year (April 2025) that granted this evil scumbag asylum. So no, Donnie. The fault is yours because you approved him without vetting him, like you were supposed to.
Notice how Trump takes responsibility for nothing? This happened on Trump’s watch.
Jesus take the wheel, every time he goes on t v he proves. He is more ignorant than the worst maga Idiot. If the troops were not deployed to DC this would not have happened.
PSA for people in America: If you have any Afghani neighbors or neighbors whom a racist might think is Afghan, now, more than ever focus on being a good neighbor. This applies to your neighbors who are Muslim, Arab, Sikh, and South Asian, even if they are not Afghan.
Historically in America, following any attack where the perpetrator is MENA, there is a rise of hate crimes and islamophobic sentiment. The islamophobia is usually supported by government actions, such as Bush's Muslim registry. But because the people participating in the prejudice and attacks are racist, they extend these to anyone they think looks Muslim.
The first islamophobic murder after 9/11 was of a Sikh man, Balbir Singh Sodhi. His murderer (Frank Roque) thought Balbir was Muslim, and that was all it took for Roque to murder him.
Rahmanullah Lakanwal, thee suspect in the attack on the National Guardsmen, is Afghan. Trump has already announces a review of all Afghan refugees. He is going to use this incident to spread hate and violence.
So we need to speak out for our neighbors and do our best to be there for them.
Its funny how fragile us americans get about soldiers dying. You know what a soldier's job is? To kill and die. That's it. Literally just doing their jobs. A license to kill is not an entitlement to safety.
Homeland security secretary also blamed ‘activist’ judges for defying court order to halt deportation flights
Michael Sainato at The Guardian:
Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, claimed on Sunday that the suspect in the national guard shooting in Washington DC was “radicalized” in the US and blamed the Biden administration, though the suspect’s asylum was approved under Donald Trump.
The shooting suspect, 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, was granted asylum under the Trump administration in April 2025. He worked with CIA backed units in Afghanistan, coming to the US in September 2021 under an Operation Allies Welcome program.
“We believe he was radicalized since he’s been here in this country,” Noem said on NBC’s Meet the Press. “We do believe it was through connections in his home community and state, and we’re going to continue to talk to those who interacted with him, who were his family members, who talk to them.”
The Trump administration used the shooting as justification to halt and review asylum and green card applications.
Trump told reporters on Sunday his administration could pause asylum admissions into the United States for an extended period. “No time limit, but it could be a long time,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One. “We have enough problems. We don’t want those people.”
Noem claimed “vetting is happening when they come into the country, and that was completely abandoned under Joe Biden’s administration”.
“All that vetting information was collected by Joe Biden’s administration,” said Noem. “The vetting process all happened under Joe Biden’s administration.”
Noem also denied that she defied a judge’s order when she ordered deportation flights to El Salvador to continue, instead blaming “activist” and “radical” judges.
The comments came in response to questioning on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday about whether Noem made the decision to continue the deportation flights for Venezuelan immigrants earlier this year, as the Department of Justice has alleged.
“We’ll continue to do the right thing, continue to work and protect Americans, no matter what radical judge comes out and tries to stop us,” Noem said.
Noem also appeared on ABC’s This Week on Sunday, where she confirmed the flights were her decision.
Dog-killing DHS Secretary Kristi Noem is such an assclown.

National Guard Members Sarah Beckstrom and Andrew Wolfe Shot by 29-Year-Old Rahmanullah Lakanwal
The fatal shooting of two West Virginia National Guard members near the White House has cast a deep shadow over Thanksgiving week in the United States. What began as a routine security deployment ended in tragedy for the families of 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom and 24-year-old Andrew Wolfe, both of whom were targeted in a violent attack carried out by 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal. The incident…
An Afghan national has been accused of carrying out the deadly shooting near the White House Wednesday
Rachel Dobkin and Alex Woodward at The Independent:
The Trump administration has halted all decisions regarding migrants seeking asylum in the wake of the shooting of two National Guard members. The suspected shooter, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, is an Afghan national who was granted asylum earlier this year.
Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph B. Edlow wrote on X Friday evening, “USCIS has halted all asylum decisions until we can ensure that every alien is vetted and screened to the maximum degree possible. The safety of the American people always comes first.”
A notice sent to asylum officers, and obtained by CBS News, explicitly tells them not to enter “any decision information for affirmative cases.”
Immigrants who are not involved in removal proceedings can apply for affirmative asylum with Citizenship and Immigration Services, which is under the Homeland Security Department. Applications in defensive cases are filed by immigrants facing deportation and are decided by immigration judges under the direction of the Department of Justice.
More than 1 million people are awaiting decisions on their asylum applications, according to a 2024 report from Homeland Security. From those cases, more than 786,000 people were waiting more than 180 days for a decision in their affirmative asylum cases.
The man suspected of shooting two West Virginia National Guard members —one fatally — near the White House Wednesday, likely underwent extensive vetting as a CIA asset and again as he sought asylum in the United States.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe said Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, worked with the CIA in Afghanistan, which almost certainly would have required extensive vetting.
He was also likely vetted when he received asylum under Trump earlier this year.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and FBI director Kash Patel have both suggested in recent congressional testimony that the administration had carefully scrutinized thousands of Afghan refugees.

Noem said Lakanwal came to the U.S. in 2021 under Operation Allies Welcome, a Biden-era program that helped resettle Afghans who had assisted the U.S. in its fight against the Taliban. The program has taken in about 76,000 people.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Trump railed against former President Joe Biden for the program.
“He was flown in by the Biden administration in September 2021 on those infamous flights that everybody was talking about. Nobody knew who was coming in,” Trump said.
