By 10pm, Megan, Tess, Chrissy, and Luna get their kids ready to leave. Emily asks her moms if she can stay and have a sleepover with Kiran. After checking in with Kiran's parents, who agree, Emily excitedly goes to tell Kiran, who's happy as well. "Sure Ems, I still have your old pjs and sleeping bag in my closet. We can stay up and watch movies for a bit." They say. Emily's moms check in with her one more time before they leave, and she assures them she's okay. Once they leave, she hangs out with Kiran and Rahul, and Kiran asks her if she wants to go outside to hang out. "Sure." Emily says, feeling shy as Kiran takes her hand and they race out to the backyard.

Once there, they goof around and the topic of slow dancing comes up. "I heard a lot of people say that Copperdale has a fall dance for the freshmen and people go together as couples." She says shyly. Kiran nods. "Yeah, my cousin Abhi told me about it. Would you want to dance, Ems? For practice and fun." They say after drawing up some courage. "Sure." Emily says, and she and Kiran put their arms around each other. They sway around the backyard and Emily laughs as Kiran goofs around with her. At one point, Emily glances into Kiran's eyes and blushes as she sees a soft look in them.

Emily gathers her courage and leans in. "Kir?" She asks. "Yeah?" Kiran says in the same soft voice and Emily feels her stomach fill with butterflies again as she eyes the freckles on Kiran's nose. "I-I just wanted to tell you that I-" before Emily can finish she hears Rahul calling out to Kiran. "Hey Kir, what are you guys doing here?" He asks, glancing between the two. Emily feels stung as Kiran pulls away, explaining that they were practicing for the upcoming dance. "Oh okay. My dad's picking me up but I wanted to check if you'd be okay with going to the aquarium for our date next Saturday. It's really cool." He says shyly. "Sure, I'd love that." Kiran says and Emily's stomach flips.

"Wait, what? Kir, you're going on a date and didn't even tell me?" Emily says, wincing internally at how she sounds but unable to stop. "I was going to." Kiran says, furrowing their brows at Emily as Rahul looks uncomfortable. "I'm your best friend and you should've told me before." Emily says, crossing her arms and feeling her face getting hot. "Ems, what's gotten into you?" Kiran asks gently. "Nothing! I just thought you'd be my friend first before being someone else's date and romantic partner." Emily says louder than she intends, and she feels her cheeks burn even more as Kiran gives her a hurt and confused look and shake their head. They head back inside and Emily feels sick to her stomach but also angry and sad. "Is everything okay?" Rahul asks cautiously. "Just leave me alone." Emily snaps, turning her face so he won't see her cry. "Okay," he says quietly and he leaves too. Emily stifles a sob, feeling guilty and stupid and jealous. She doesn't know what to do, she just snapped at Kiran and Rahul and acted like a jerk and she doesn't know how to fix it or go from there.

The Hecking-Feldman-Chen-Liao family arrive at the Oberoi house in San Sequoia, due to a late minute change in plans*, and head inside. While Emily’s moms go to chat with Rani and Arjun, Emily greets Kiran, who’s wearing a Kurta pajama outfit. “Hey Emmy,” Kiran says, and their eyes go wide as they take in her outfit. “Woah, you look beautiful.” They say, pushing their glasses up their nose and smiling, making Emily feel tongue-tied. She panics as her brain freezes and she eventually stutters out. “Oh, um, thanks Kir. You-you look good too.” Emily says and Kiran smiles. “Thanks.” They say. Emily opens her mouth but is interrupted by a guy around her and Kiran’s age calling out to Kiran. “One sec, Rahul!” Kiran calls back, grinning. Emily feels a stab of jealousy but tries to push it away. “Emmy, I’ll be back okay? And I’ll bring Rahul so I can introduce him to you.” They say, and Emily nods. “Sure.” She says.

Emily watches as Kiran goes up to Rahul and the two joke around. Rahul pokes Kiran’s arm before Kiran reaches over to poke him on the forehead, and Emily can’t help but feel jealous again as Kiran smiles at him. Does Kiran like him? She wonders, and she sighs. Even gameplay wise, she must’ve been in a mood because she asked her ma, Tess, for advice on feeling like no one likes her. “Emmy, of course not.” Tess says. “A lot of people like you, me and mom especially.” She says, giving Emily a worried look. “Nooboo, would you want to go home? I can make hot chocolate and we can snuggle on the couch and watch a movie.” Tess adds. “No, it’s okay ma but thanks.” Emily says, feeling a bit sheepish now. “Okay, but let me or mom know, okay?” Tess says, and Emily nods.
