The Raid: Redemption, 2011 • 9.5/10
.
'The Raid: Redemption' is a bold, bloody and unforgettable non-stop adrenaline fueled, action packed, riotous romp, that's choreographed to absolute perfection.
.
The premise is simple on paper, but for this certain team of highly trained commandos, it is no simple task. The location, a broken down tower block full of apartments and tight corridors, is key to the films success. This location, combined with the inventive choreography and the unbelievably talented performers and stunt men, provides audiences with some of the most intense, heart-pounding scenes that have ever graced the movies.
.
From start to finish it is jam-packed with unforgettable action sequences, and what blows me away every time I watch it, is the fact that you never see a move repeated, and there are soooo many moves. The fighting style is Pencak Silat, which adopts a constant attack and defend stance, where every part of the body is used and subject to attack. And when it comes to this fighting style, their are no two people as exceptional as supporting actor, fight choreographer, stuntman and professional fighter Yayan Ruhiyan and the main man himself, Iko Uwias. These two are essentially who we should thank for every fight sequence, as it was them and their amazing team that worked their literal asses off, alongside Evans' unflinching eye and steady hand.
.
The editing is seamless, direction palpable, performances are top-tier all-round, and the fight scenes are relentlessly inventive and constantly brutal. 'The Raid: Redemption' is, in the simplest terms, 30 stories of groundbreaking action entertainment! Must See!
that end scene in raid redemption tho
The raid indonesian film has quickly became my top favorite action film ,god. Pure action . I thought thai was good at it until this one. I would trade my personal favorite bangkok knockout and raging phoenix over this. I was actually in despair of watching movies only to find my self bored out and cant finish a single one because it doesnt appeal to me then i came up into this one which i almost scrolled past in kissasian. Omg almost, because looking at the movie poster without reading the sypnosis i thought it was some apocalypse movies where only one person left and the other turned out zombies , like the legend of will smith. Im going to watch the sequel tomorrow because i dont want to get over that movie for tonight , or ill probably rewatch it tomorrow idk haha. Atlast after like a week of browsing loading and cancelling movies i found something that is worth my limited time of watching online and im just so happy haha
