32 and 50 for Brently! What is life like for him after his mom takes him to the hill? That first piece had me 👁👁

32. Does he have a bad relationship with his parents?

well dang this might surprise you but he loves his mom and doesnt love his dad! his mom basically raised him on the story of how he kidnapped her by using her magic against her, and kept her trapped with no way to escape, which now that i think about it, is a whole whump story in itself. so hes always had this deep distrust of his father, even though his dad has never explicitely done anything bad to him. he looooves his mom though. as time goes on, he feels less and less attached to her, but he still very much looks up to her and sees her as this... etherial being that he cant quite reach.

so its been probably 5 years since i tried to tell his story last, but i remember most of it. buckle up. this is a long one.

brently and his mother escape successfully to the faerie hill. if you know, in faerie lore theres a seelie court, and an unseelie court. his mother belongs to the unseelie court. the courts in this story have been in a more explicit war, instead of just generally not agreeing, and so to prove himself, brently is tasked with murdering the seelie queen and cutting off the royal bloodline, so that the unseelie court may get a leg up in the war.

well, he trekks out to battlefields and finds the seelie queen, and he kills her. he tries to come back to the unseelie court, victorious in his task, and they inform him of bad news: shes already had a child, and the bloodline is secure.

i think this is a bit of lore i made up for this story, but the bloodline is dormant and only shines through as faerie every other generation. so hes killed the og queen, so her daughter doesnt have any magic, and manages to allude him because he cant "pick up" on her magic at all. and then, when she has a daughter, she is so well protected against him that he cant kill her until its too late, all over again.

this continues through one more generation, except THIS TIME he meets the new queen, he falls in love with her (oops). hes always been entranced with this seelie queen that hes been tasked to kill, ever since he first killed her on the battlefield, and so he kind of keeps falling in love with the, almost reincarnation of her blood? does that make sense?

so anyway, they fall in love despite his best efforts and this is where it all gets hazy in my memory.... i know that he tries to leave to protect her, but with the seelie queen still alive he cant go home, and he cant stay with her because of his duty, so.... i also know that she gets pregnant because of their activities (oops again). the end of it all, is that brently finally is overcome by his duty and kills her, but he cant bring himself to kill his daughter, who doesnt explicitely have royal blood, so he leaves her in a place where she will be raised, so she can have a daughter and he can try to catch the cycle before it turns over again.

i hope this makes ANY SORTA SENSE, its been a while since ive written his story out, and i was a much different person when i first came up with it. but im kind of obsessed with his balance of love vs duty, and the idea of cycles that cant be interrupted. plus, i think its just terribly... sad? that he cant go home, and he cant catch up to this queen before her royal blood is passed down again, and so he must spend eternity trying to chase her, yannow?

41. Does he get sick often?

NOT REALLY and thats soley because i dont thrive writing sick whump pfffff. nah, in all seriousness, he used to be a very healthy, very active kid, and so for a while after he escapes it would make sense for him to get sick because for a long while he WASNT healthy or active. but other than that, he isnt one for frequently getting sick.

36. Is he in control of his emotions? or are his emotions in control of him?

this is... tough. i think he feels like a slave to his emotions more times than not? he has all these Big Feelings and he really doesnt know what to do with them? so he either represses the shit out of them, or he goes through great lengths to appease them, and neither of those options are very healthy......

32. Does he have a bad relationship with his parents?

THIS IS A GOOD QUESTION FOR HIM!!!!!!!!!!! he DOESNT have a bad relationship with his parents, he loves them very much!!! but after his captivity, he feels like theyve all changed into different people, and he can no longer turn to them as his support group. which is REALLY SAD because he used to be really close with his family, to the point where he doesnt have a lot of friends :/ so once he loses that support with his parents... he feels really isolated and lonely, and its part of why he turns to go back to the father after his initial captivity. if you cant tell, this is where im at in his official story, and so ive been thinking a LOT about this haha.

With all this talk of LTalvos I think it’s finally time for me to fess up. When I started reading, and for a good while after, I thought Iesin’s name was...Lesin. I was so confused as to why his name was always lowercases. I figured it was a status thing. I was dumb. Thought you might like to know this 😂

ahaha you’re not the only one! sans serif fonts, as great as they are for reading on screens, really do lack in the differentiation department between letters, lmao
