Cheaper rail travel
I didn’t think we would get our money’s worth using a family railcard but I so have!
We originally got te railcard for £20 for an annual pass from national rail we got it as it was on offer and it would save us a bit when we go to London in June.
So my savings are apparent.
London, for me, mother in law and the 2 cherubs would have cost us £90 return. Not bad in theory. With the railcard it…

why are trains
so bloody expensive? I've gone and not brought my rail card with me (because I wasn't expecting to go on a train, duh) and without one it will cost me £41 for a return from London not including the travelcard. So I'll buy a railcard ticket (still £25), get a friend to send me my railcard 1st class tomorrow and if it doesn't arrive in time, if I get caught I'll have to pay the difference. my poor bank balance :(
I just sent a snotty email to the rail card company who think they can get away with scamming me out of £56.
Hello,
My name is Lucy Atkinson and my rail card runs out in about 11 days time. I came online to renew my rail card. I got to the payment page where it said the grant total would be £84. Why is this? I selected the "one year" choice which should be £28. I know that 28 x 3 is 84, however, I haven't selected to buy a rail card three times.
I proceeded without actually authorising the payment and it was still saying I owed £84. I'm reluctant to go ahead and renew it for fear of having to pay £56 more than I should.
This is very irritating, as last time I renewed my rail card, something went wrong then as well. I would have liked to have thought that in a year, the website would be updated so that it is more efficient and less prone to things going wrong. However, as I do do a lot of rail travel, a 16 - 25 rail card is incredibly important for me in order to save what precious little money I have - hence why I am continuing with the application, and hence why I am reluctant to pay £56 more than necessary.
Thank you very much for your time and help,
Lucy Atkinson.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

What the.
So I lost my student ID card and my rail card. I don't know how much they cost to be replaced. All I know is I am in a little bit of trouble.
/replacing my student ID will cost 10 pounds. 10 P O U N D S. I really could have gotten lots of food and topped up my Oyster card with that money. Why Kent? Why?
