Book closest: Mary Poppins by P.L. TraversFirst thing I noticed/first full line: “She tried so hard to stop dancing that every muscle and every rib stood out like mountain ranges all over her.”
And this is why Clair hated the game ‘Truth or Dare”’. She always picked truth - she was one to hide nothing! But alas, it was her time to be dared. And to top it off, it was Ingo’s turn to deliver the brutal challenge to her. She could anticipate nothing.
"I dare you…..to dance for the next 10 minutes,” he said, coyly. " And no breaks."
Almost immediately, the upbeat music was cued.
Much to her dissatisfaction, Clair swallowed her pride, took off her boots, and hit the middle of the subway car as if it were a dancefloor. She wasn’t particularly good, damnit, but at least around friends (and outside of a gym, mind you) she was a good sport.
“Daaaaamiiiiiit,” she panted, twisting all sorts of ways. From gyrating, to square dancing, to whatever she’d picked up over her years of traveling. Everyone else was hooting and hollering, egging her on. She had to admit, it wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be.
Her body was hurting like hell, but the moment she slowed down her pace, Ingo - between his bantering - piped up. “7 minutes to go!”
All she could think was:”I cannot fucking wait until it’s *my* turn to do the Dare-ing…”
