A tale of two rain gauges.
The new, CoCoRaHS approved gauge shows 2.36 inches of rain since 7 am yesterday.
The fancy Davis system shows 1.76 inches of rain for that same period.
With more normal rainfall events, they match up within 0.01 inches. But these heavy rains highlight the Davis tipping bucket weakness.
Davis has a newer tipping “spoon”, but I bought the system right at the changeover in the production, and got the older system. I don’t know if it would make any difference.
