Summary: a first date with rain.

Rain had grown up, never knowing why his parents had left him. It was a secret up until he was old enough to learn. It was because he was a married man who had an affair. He didn't want to bring shame to his family and therefore acted as if Rain had never existed, sending him to live with the poor. Rain's mother died of grief, believing her son had never survived birth. Rain hated his father. He was the reason she had died. He was never loved by anyone except the Earthrealm humans who saw him as a god and Mileena. He never really looked for love or thought anything of it. He knew he wouldn't find anyone or one day someone would find him.

He was exactly right. When you came wandering into Outworld, it was obvious you did not belong. He wanted to avoid you, as it wasn't his business. He wanted to walk away, and yet, he stayed. Watching you from the rooftops. He saw the danger that was nearing you and quickly teleported to save you. Disappearing once again, he returned to his place. You never once saw him, but you did get the feeling of being watched.

Rain cursed himself for being so afraid of a mere human. You couldn't hurt him, even if you tried. He knew that. He also knew your people looked up to him. He shouldn't be such a coward. He teleported off the roof and down somewhere near you. He didn't want to scare you, but he did want to talk to you.

"Hello." He said as he gently touched your shoulder.

You turned around to face him and smiled.

"Hi, I'm Y/N." You said as you offered your hand to him.

He took it, but he wasn't quite sure what to do with it.

"I'm Rain, Prince of Edenia." He said as you shook his hand and let go of him.

"It's nice to meet you."

He blinked. His mask prevented you from seeing anything other than his eyes. To you, he looked emotionless. He was surprised. Most people would have respect for the royalty, and yet, you did nothing.

"You're not from here?" He asked, his eyes slightly narrowing in confusion.

"No, I'm not."

"Where are you from?"

"A place called Earth. I'm lost and need to find someone to help me get back, or at least find a place to stay the night."

"I can help you." He said, and he only slightly regretted those words after he spoke them.

He allowed you to stay with him in one of his houses for the time being, another regret that he had. He couldn't understand what was wrong with him. He didn't want you to leave, and yet when the next day came. He walked you to a place that he thought might take you home. He walked through the portal with you to ensure that you would be safe. He could easily teleport back to safety if he needed to.

"I know we only just met," He said loud enough that you could hear him while he looked away. He pulled down his mask and knelt on the ground, his hands holding yours.

"Will you marry me?" He asked as he looked up at you.

You blinked. "Do you mean a date?"

He breathed in. He didn't want to embarrass himself even further, so he went along with it.

"Yes, I do."

"I'd love to." You said, smiling at him.

He gave a small smile back.

"Where should we meet?" He asked, not entirely knowing what was happening next.

"I can try to return or you could meet me here again and I'll take you to a restaurant here in my town?"

"I'll meet you here tomorrow?"

"That sounds good." You agreed, and you both walked away, in opposite directions.

The next day came. Rain stood in the spot, waiting for you to arrive. When you arrived, you smiled and greeted him. He greeted you back, and you led him to the restaurant.

There, you both would eat and get to know each other better. When it was time to go, you led Rain to the portal. You didn't want him getting lost or hurt in the city.

"Thank you, Y/N. Is this what humans do?"

"Yes, it's the step before marriage and before becoming a couple."

He nodded.

"I wish to see you again."

You smiled and planned another date with him, this time in his world. He kissed your hand and walked away.

You smiled as he stepped into the portal, and you headed to your house.

Summary: volleyball on the beach.

It had been months since you both started dating and became a couple. Rain enjoyed learning all the things about your world and people. He gladly accepted your invitation to do something or to go somewhere. He enjoyed learning more.

When the hot weather came, you wanted to leave, and without even asking, Rain offered to come with you. You, of course, were going to take him. He started packing, and you helped him, as well as packing your own things. With no reason to stay a day longer, you both headed out to the beach. You found a nearby hotel and checked in.

You walked up to your hotel room and set your stuff down.

"What do you want to do?" You asked him.

While he wasn't sure what to do with his stuff. He set it down, but wasn't sure what else to do with it.

"We can go to the beach later tonight when no one else is there?" He suggested and followed along with you when you started unpacking your things. 

"Alright, let's do that then."

Although he frequently traveled between his realm and yours. He still dressed as his people did, and he didn't entirely like the people who swarmed him every time he arrived. It was nice being loved and accepted, but he didn't want the attention. He wanted to spend his time with you.

When the sun started to go down, you both headed out to the beach. You knew Rain well enough to know that he never really played sports growing up. It wasn't a thing for his people. Of course, he would play games with the other children, but things like football and volleyball, or even basketball, weren't a thing. Although, it could just be his lack of memory and not remembering as he didn't want to remember his childhood.

"Hey, Rain. Do you want to play a game?"

"Yes, what game?"

You explained to him in detail the game of volleyball. How it was played and how to win it. He thought it would be an easy game, and you let him serve first.

He hit the ball, and it went out of bounds. You served the ball, and you both did a pretty good job of keeping it off of the ground until Rain hit it out-of-bounds once again. It was never intentional. He just couldn't help the forceful hits. The both of you continued to play the game. Every time Rain served, it would always go out of bounds. The times that Rain tried to be gentle, it would be too gentle and wouldn't make it over to your side. When the game was over, Rain was one point behind you from winning. He wanted a rematch. He wanted to keep going, but the time was midnight. It was too dark to see, and you were starting to get tired. The streetlights in the distance provided little to no light for the beach. You promised Rain another game tomorrow. So he followed you to the hotel, with the promise he would do better tomorrow.
