Metallic Threads: Thread Testing & Opinion Master Blog
Metallic Threads: Thread Testing & Opinion Master Blog
Original blog post was written by @emzolv on July 29, 2020 and was reposted to this blog with permission. Hey everyone! Okay so this has been a long time in the making, so I apologise profusely for the delay that this has taken. I could sit here and wax lyrical with excuses but frankly – this is very overdue and well, I’m here to rectify that! The original plan was to create a blog featuring all…

Update on Thread Disaster
Yesterday I received a box in the mail with a replacement cone of the silver metallic thread - let us hope there are no defects in it! LOL!
I was also given three thread samples; a metallic/rayon blend called ‘Entice’, and two lamé braids in two different sizes. All of these threads are available from Rainbow Gallery.
Seems like a lot of things can go wrong at Christmastime. I imagined a scene of what could go wrong for Santa and how he would make the best of it (really I imagined the zany things that would happen if I were Santa). The pattern is in the December 2017 issue of Just Cross Stitch.
I used a beautiful fabric that is pale blue with sparkles throughout the fabric. It is Crystal Aerial hand-dyed Lugana from Picture this plus. There are also some Mill Hill beads and Kreinik thread to help the piece sparkle. For the fur I used Rainbow Gallery Wisper thread and teased it a little with a needle to make it look fluffy. It was so fun to use the different threads I stitched the design two times.
Product Disappointment :-(
Right now I am stitching in ‘Nordic Gold’ metallic thread, and finding more and more ‘eyelashes’ as I get farther into the cone. Since I have bought cones of this product before in both silver and gold - without flaws - I find this beyond annoying, since I have to stitch a section and them go back and trim the eyelashes off! I have taken pictures and sent them to both the distributor and the seller.
When I complete this temari and give it a haircut, I will post the finished pictures (of course!)
Replacement Product
Spoke with a rep from Fireside Stitchery; they are O.K.-ing the distributor (Rainbow Gallery) to send me a replacement cone of the silver metallic thread. Waiting for return confirmation from Rainbow Gallery.
YEA!
Edited to add: Yes - I have received confirmation, and am also getting some new thread samples from the distributor!
