It would easier if I were straight,
less judgement pushing its way onto me.
So, I turn and step towards the rainbow gate.
Secret crushes on a same sex classmate,
thoughts wreck my mind like pieces of debris.
It would be easier if I were straight.
Lying to everyone, myself I hate;
I comply with the rules, but I’m not free.
So, I turn and step towards the rainbow gate.
I want to accept all of it : my fate,
my life should not be an apology.
It would be easier if I were straight.
It’s no longer my work to fabricate,
I am all of my sexuality.
So, I turn and step towards the rainbow gate.
The colors begin to illuminate
to the point where I can finally see.
Yes, it would be easier if I were straight;
But, I keep going through the rainbow gate.
