Cheap Plus Size Fashion

I just discovered Rainbow, an online store that has plus size clothing for VERY reasonable prices. Considering our choices are so limited, having a low cost option to shop at is so welcome. I got three very cute shirts for about $7 each!

So many times we go to the mall, buy new pieces & hang them in our closets without giving the other items a second thought. We pile new items in not realizing that you may have pieces that would go perfect with the old ones. We all need to take time & do a closet overhaul. Simply put, clean out your closet!! A few days ago I was looking through my armoire & for the first time in forever I noticed a blazer that I completely forgot I had. Right then, I began riffling through & I swear I should be ashamed of myself..... I had pieces with the tags still on, stuff I bought 3,5 years ago. Honestly, I don’t even need to buy shit else!!!!!! So I’m always looking to do new projects & I decided that once a week, I will go through my closet & armoire & put some pieces together. I will post it both here & my Instagram (@YooooooItsPeach) & then later post a photo of me wearing what I’ve put together. This project is totally multiplexed because not only am I sifting through my clothes, It’s also giving me the opportunity to see what toss (donate) & what to keep. It also gives me ideas of how to wear various pieces outside of my norm. It’ll give other petite women like myself some ideas of how to pair. ✨😌✨

NOT Your Grade-School Overalls

Fashion has the gift of allowing us to reminisce about different stages in our lives. Simply hearing the word overalls tends to bring back childhood memories of playing on the jungle gym at recess time. Figuring out what journeys were going to take us away after school were our most stressful thoughts as the innocence of youth filled our minds. Regardless of where life took our tiny bodies, overalls seemed to be our best friend because of the vital role they played in our ability to be whoever we wanted. As little girls who constantly felt restricted by stereotypical clothing, what made this particular piece beloved was the flexibility to move without worrying about lifting skirts or shirts while hanging on for dear life from the monkey bars. Although we’ve grown older, and were forced to add elements like formal, business, and business casual into our rotation, we remain thankful for Summer because it has always allowed us to shed layers and get more creative with our casual style. Women are now embracing the retro romper-like fashion piece again in the freshest way, but let’s get one thing straight, these are not your grade school overalls.

We could always count on our early years to deliver something exciting, especially when lunchtime came around and you never knew what you were going to get. As grown-ups we sometimes find ourselves searching for moments as surprising as when the lunch lady fashioned together our 2 fave foods to create pizza bagels. The creativity she displayed made us look at her as our very own Wonder Woman, a superhero known for the power of her accessories. As overalls go, leave it to the feminine perspective to successfully embellish and upgrade one of the best times in our youth by making it suitable for adulthood. This article of clothing has been beautifully refashioned with the help of multiple washes including grey acid, ice blue, and saturated neutrals like ox-blood and olive; neutrals are considered to be colors that don’t create much of a riff when paired with basic pieces. Another distinguishing change that helps overalls better suit the feminine mystique, are its shortened bottom length and tighter, more form fitting body. Added embellishments like destruction, lacing, and various prints have assisted in delivering an age appropriate look to the innocence of overalls.

As a child, we all loathed the days when it rained. Being forced into jackets and having to stay inside for recess birthed a feeling of resentment for all cold seasons, but when the warmth returned it was as if it had never left. Inhibiting pants and sweats were boxed up so that freeing pieces like jean shorts could take its place. Even now, Summertime is revered for its daisy dukes and tank tops, giving women the opportunity to embrace a sun-kissed tan, or simply show some leg. Overalls not only provide a nice alternative to denim shorts, they also add personality to an otherwise simplistic look. This one piece wonder can utilize your basic tees as a backdrop to the entire outfit, allowing excess energy to go into accessorizing. On the other hand, if your desire is to showcase a top with more pizazz like a ruffled, off the shoulder blouse, a plain set of overalls can properly adjust to fit the look without stealing the show. With the versatility the once back-to-school favorite has now acquired, ladies are enjoying their playtime in the sun all over again.

Remember those youthful adventures you and your friends would take Saturday mornings hunting for shiny rocks that looked like diamonds and climbing trees? At those crucial moments, when digging or leaping was evident, a skirt failed to suffice. It simply did not create the shield needed to stop boys from spotting your unmentionables, much less keep you from feeling as though your girlhood was a burden. Perhaps one of the greatest attributes overalls embody are their ability to return freedom to its wearers while also supplying coverage in vulnerable situations. Unlike their stylish but stubborn cousin the romper, you don’t have to worry about going completely nude every time you enter a bathroom stall. All-in-one pieces are kin to bathing suits; the best time to remove them is when you don’t intend on putting them right back on, but since overalls rely on a base article of clothing, they can effortlessly take on the role of bottoms, leaving your top half concealed during private instances. Their functionality allows for an unrestricted and non-conforming look that’s optimal for anything the day may bring.

For many of us it can be difficult to let go of a special baby blanket or stuffed toy from childhood because of the endless positive experiences that accompany it, but who’s to say it’s imperative that we must? A tear can be stitched and parts can easily be replaced, sometimes even making that object of our affection better than we remember. Fashion is an ever evolving business that sets out to consistently propel to the next level, but what happens when the population refuses to let go of one ingenious idea? Many believe an invention that can positively influence some of the greatest times in life deserves the respect of remodeling so it can continue living through. While some fashion statements appear to come across as more of an ad-lib, life altering and innovative ones never go out of style; they simply revamp their appearances and come back stronger than ever. Combining old and new elements always make the most unique outcome, and in the case of overalls, an alluring portrayal of the person you truly are and always have been.
