probably not in order bc it’s been a while since i had to think back past freshman year of uni but uhh

mrs. c, she was my ap eng lit teacher and my mentor, i owe a lot to her, she means the world to me.

mr. t, he was my english + history teacher freshman year in hs? he was bomb, funny af.

ms. s, kindergarten teacher! i remember nothing about her except that i liked her a lot!!!

dr. c, he’s a prof i had last year, he’s super funny and hella cool imo

mr. g, my hs chem teacher, he was so sarcastic that even tho i did not like chem i liked taking his classes bc he was that funny.

yeah rose and her mom had a dynamic shed definitely reflect on, the same wrt jade's isolated childhood

tbh the way rose’s whole .. arc.. thing .. ended is something i, too, personally have a huge problem with.  like, it made sense that she would put the blame on herself for being.. idk, difficult to raise?  a problem child?  for mildly antagonizing a literal adult while trying to deal w Obvious confusion & emotional isolation?  for being, at age 13, completely at a loss for how to sincerely communicate w and trust others?  she blamed herself for the way she was raised and apparently this was fine.

like, it makes complete sense, that in trying to figure out wtf her relationship to her mother even was, that bc her mom is now dead, continuing to think badly of her mom feels Wrong, and any resentment she still feels must clearly be a moral failing on her part, because rose is Like That

but what i have a problem with, is that the story just ... let this happen?  like as if rose lalonde was actually right to think that the complete emotional disconnect and estrangement in her own home was .. her fault?  the narrative just let this stand, with no one challenging that claim, passively validating all rose’s self hatred & her belief that obviously she is aware and capable and can handle everything, therefore everything is her responsibility, therefore her fault?   (a defense mechanism of hers, ironically probably the result of her mother being completely inscrutable.  bc if she can anticipate others’ manipulations, even when none are present, then she will be safe interacting with them.)    the story did touch on how this belief sometimes brought her harm (re: doc scratch, grimdark), but apparently when it comes to mom lalonde .. it’s fine?

bcs roxy is observably a good person, therefore mom lalonde must also have been ?  the idea that Dirk Is Not Broe is hammered on so hard, but roxy is good, so mom must also have been good.  because Mom Is Roxy?

like why did no one ever stop rose like .. listen you .. were .. a child, establishing a working relationship w your adult parent was not ... yr responsibility?  it was your mother who failed you and not the other way around?  someone please help ths poor girl she’s suffering

Okay, so I put way more effort into this one, and about 50 minutes instead of 5, but they’re Ancestors, I feel like the Ancestors have to be drawn more fancifully because I don’t draw them often.
