What if you thought someone was your friend when actually they were making sure you could die at the right place and time? What if they really wished they COULD be your friend despite it all? If you knew they didn't have a choice, would it hurt less? Pretty much the entire fic draws from this conceit.

I started writing this before Homestuck even ENDED. It just goes to show that no matter how much you procrastinate, you can sometimes actually finish your fics. I have literally been plagued by this fic for more than 10 years, so if you know anything about Homestuck, I would DEEPLY love if you read and maybe dropped a comment.

Day 5 of the pale week of @homestuck-ff-month ! The prompt was long distance. Handmaid can't show up often, but when they do Dolorosa is very protective of them! Handmaid is unused to someone else looking out for them, but they appreciate her dedication and tenacity, despite the fact that she's protecting the literal servant of Alternia's fabled death-god. Dolorosa values the time she gets to spend with her moirail, though sparse and fleeting those times are.

i really love the handmaid/the dolorosa! its a weird crackship but theyre adorable old ladies :) if ur looking for something out there to draw. if humanized i tend to draw rosa as a hijabi woman by the by

Okay, so I put way more effort into this one, and about 50 minutes instead of 5, but they’re Ancestors, I feel like the Ancestors have to be drawn more fancifully because I don’t draw them often.
