Are rainbow drinkers actually immortal or is that a myth? It'd be interesting considering even Fuschia trolls aren't supposed to live forever iirc

One of the Troll Call Jadebloods is a Rainbowdrinker. It's not the obvious one.

Also I just heard that some idiot tried to wear Lanque's shoes. The idiot in question no longer has any feet. When are people going to learn that YOU JUST CAN'T DO THAT!!

Okay so my rainbow drinker headcanons are kinda scattered

But I can say i’m not a follower of the parasite headcanon. It’s neat, but not my cup of tea.

I think rainbowdrinkers might raise because of Literal Magic or, more likely some sort of biological defense mechanism since jades are 1.rare and 2.end up living underground in a cavern or possibly even an infectious disease that only affects jadebloods.

 I like the idea that most jades are susceptible to becoming a drinker, but that there’s not really a way to tell until it happens, or why it happens to some trolls and not others. I think most jades think it’s a scary bedtime story told to make sure they don’t go doing shit they shouldn’t, but it ends up being a fear that sticks in the back of their mind for sweeps (Is it real? No, no couldn’t be). To people who study them, rainbowdrinkers are frustratingly inconsistent in a lot of ways. There aren’t many records of them kept either.

I think a violent death is more likely to make a jade rise as a drinker than a peaceful one, because their bodies react strongly enough with a “fight or flight” response that triggers the change to start, even after they’re killed. I don’t think a drinker can turn another troll into a drinker. The best they can do is violently kill a jade and cross their fingers.

I also think that the time it takes a troll to change varies wildly, contributing to the “no rhyme or reason” nature of trolls becoming drinkers. Some change in a couple hours, I think the longest it would take is a few days, MAYBE a week if they were somewhere really cold. Some are ravenous, mindless beasts when they rise and some wake up scared and confused and SO hungry.

There is no reason why a jade can’t drink any kind of blood from any caste or animal other than personal preference. Blood is blood is blood. Vyotia feeds on animals a lot, but when she hunts trolls she likes to go after indigos.

Drinkers can turn the glow off, but it’s something they have to learn/train themselves to do. Like learning how to use a muscle you never knew you had.

Idk if they appear in mirrors and film or not, I can’t decide which i like better. I do think they can enter a place uninvited, but it causes them physical distress and makes them feel AWFUL PAIN and SO SICK so 9/10 times they wanna get invited in.

Some exhibit an aversion to foods such as garlic and pumpkins, some can eat regular food and though it does nothing it doesn’t hurt them, and some get ill at the thought of eating regular food.

Rainbowdrinker headcanon ( ft. @dattertrolls ) ::

Rainbowdrinkers can potentially smell if someone’s blood has some kind of problem with it. For example, if it were anemic or they had some kind of blood disease in a similar way to how people could smell if milk had gone bad or how dogs could potentially smell if a person had cancer or something.  The troll’s blood would have to actually be out, meaning they’d have some kind of cut or something.
