excuse to talk about the rainmakers 🎤
acid storm is (oops was) genderfluid and swaps out frame elements depending on if they feel mech, femme, or neither that day. i got one (1) background 'con to call them "them" and then have them show up in femme mode but it's super subtle
the rainmakers' combination acid rain n lightning storm attack thing is Moderately damaging to individual mechs, but absolutely devastating against infrastructure. so command usually sends them to go melt buildings the autobots are holed up in or roads or facilities like power generation n energon refinery. it's strictly more strategically useful than an outright warrior, but is viewed pretty lowly by the average 'con soldier, cuz they're not actually Fighting they're just flying in circles and letting the rain do the work.
acid storm is trine leader and is aware of both their trine's value to command and that nobody else can see it. they push hard for their trinemates to keep to themselves, and the intention was to prove their usefulness by doing enough damage and maybe getting attention from their superiors for it, rather than trying to shove logic into the head of the average 'con. but uh. that's how they ended up in a training room out of earshot of the rest of the base and nobody noticed while they were actively being killed. better luck next continuity i guess?
