Hi! Just wanted to say I love seeing your world wips! I love everything you post but the way you set up your towns and make them look is really inspiring. I can't build at all and I'd love to outfit a world to my personal tastes but it never really looks the way I hope. Haha Anyway, just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your posting! Thank you so much! :D I feel like my world pictures can be a bit boring, lol, so I really appreciate hearing this. <3 To be honest with you, though, I’m not a very good builder either. I’ve always enjoyed decorating in The Sims, but I find the actual building part to be tedious, frustrating, and just plain hard. However, I started practicing in earnest a few years ago, and I can truthfully say that the more I work at it the better I become (in my opinion, anyway). I know that’s obvious and sounds so ridiculously cliché, but even if you aren’t happy with what you’re building now keep trying! You’ll improve with time. :)
For me, downloading houses from creators whose work I like and poking around at them in game helped tremendously as it allowed me to see firsthand how other people use the game’s building tools and objects to create certain styles and aesthetics. I’ve heard that YouTube building videos are good for this too. Also, I almost always use real life pictures for my exterior shells, at least as general inspiration. I do tend to take some creative freedom with them, though, which is probably why I’ve never had much success with recreating houses using house model floor plans.
