RAKRAKAN FESTIVAL 2017: #OPMAGAINSTDRUGS
January 14, 2017 | MOA Concert Grounds
Although mired with controversy and a few acts short of the previously announced 100 bands, there was no stopping the RAKRAKAN FESTIVAL 2017 from being a successful event that managed to bring together thousands of Filipino rock fans in one of the biggest music events in the country.
The all-OPM festival, divided into five huge stages (INDIE, MOVE, GROOVE, MOSH, and SLAM), featured the best of the local music scene and spanned different genres to cater to our diverse community of music fans.
With the theme #OPMAgainstDrugs, the event aimed to “raise awareness on drug abuse and addiction through music and the arts”. It was a theme in line with the Philippine government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
Despite the polarizing issue of the Administration’s “war on drugs”, fans and artists alike converged at the sprawling venue to rock out. The lineup featured some of the biggest and loudest names in OPM, including 2016 PULP Magazine cover artists Slapshock, Valley of Chrome, SUD, and Skychurch.
