replaying skyrim, finished Unearthed again, and wondered for the first time what the deal with ralis' last letter is. it just says "you're needed."

and he's super possessed by this point so the natural assumption is it's a trap or something, but... it doesn't really seem like it is? ahzidal doesn't need you. the miners are enough, as evidenced by the fact ralis raises him before you arrive. literally all you do is show up and ruin ahzidal's plans (by killing him again)

so why the letter?

and the only explanation i can think of is that ralis finally figured out that something was wrong, but was way too out of it to really explain or even figure out what was going on, and ended up just. writing the world's most ominous letter.
