from Fazbear-Historian on blogplace, “The character of Ralphie the Assistant, or Ralphie, or often replaced with the name of the employee playing him/her, was a curious blip in ancient Fazbear history. Originally penned by Faz Ent. Co-founder Bill Afton, as listed in the spec sheet for the character (see below), Ralphie was a rare example of a non-suit character involved in the Fredbear’s Family Diner Rockin’ Revue. He was described as follows by Afton:
Ralphie is an idiot. An idiot with a heart, but an idiot nonetheless. He only found the listing for a restaurant ran solely by animals because no one else would hire him. Fredbear and Billy the Rabbit find him pitifully endearing, and don’t have the heart to let him go.
During the animatronic show, Ralphie remains offstage, holding up audience reaction cards at the beginning and end of each set. During Billy’s stand-up segment, he will get the ‘Laughter’ and ‘Boo’ cards mixed up, and erroneously make the audience boo the Rabbit’s jokes, and laugh at his misery. IMPORTANT NOTE: despite the somewhat cruel tone of this gag, Ralphie should NEVER take any joy from humiliating a scene partner. Everything he does is with good intention.
AND, No matter how absurdly foolish Ralphie may be, he will always win over his scene partners in the end. It is important that he remain endearing despite his flaws.
For suited character performances, Ralphie should be a mediator between small children and the large animal suits. Take objects like drawings, autograph books, ect. and give them to performers. Normally Ralphie is expected to perform in rollerskates, but if performing near springlock suits, regular sturdy shoes may be advisable.
For this role I would recommend familiarizing oneself with the rules and standards of clowning. Despite the scripted nature of the animatronic performances, there will always be lots of room for improvisation which is highly encouraged. Ralphie does not have a specific voice or manner of speaking that can reasonably be replicated from employee to employee, rather we expect variety in interpretation though we encourage big choices, and big energy. Be fun, be funny, but above all else, you must be everyone's friend. Even if they're not yours.
Ralphie appears to have only ever appeared at Fredbear's Family Diner, and no reasonable equivalent seems to have ever popped up in any of the restaurants. This is unfortunate, especially considering the level of intelligent interaction animatronics were able to have with audiences by the tail end of the Afton era of Fazbear Entertainment. Perhaps, this advancement removed the need for a human bridge between the world guests were in and the world the characters were in. Still, an unfortunate loss as the character was likely a very entertaining part of the shows.”
