can someone drive a car into the back seat of the VCU campus connector and then shoot my lifeless body
What if..
This has been the question on everyone's mind today. At my school North Thurston High we all experienced a traumatic event. One of our fellow classmates pulled out a gun and fired it twice. I was luckily outside in my car when it happened however, I witnessed and experienced true fear from not only myself but from my fellow classmates. As I was getting out of my car I heard screams and cries of terror rushing through the parking lot as people fled from the school, jumping over cars and through bushes. Seconds later a minimum of ten police cars flood just the back parking lot of our school. We were soon informed that thankfully, nobody was physically hurt thanks to one of our heroic teachers and several faculties. Some people were able to escape to nearby neighborhoods as well as the middle school next door, which was not yet in session. The rest of us however, had to wait in our cars or in classrooms while our school was on lockdown. Some of us were able to skip out of our cars and as we stood outside we watched as parents tried to fight their way through police officers and other parents to get to their children. We stood on this grass mound by the road and watched as people drove past us with their phones on their steering wheel photographing us like we were the newest attraction at the zoo. We were then moved to the football field where we waited and watched as helicopters and news reporters surrounded our school. After what felt like only minutes, some students were released by parents and when I was safely in my mom's car I realized that 2 hours had passed not just a few minutes. All day I asked myself "what if I hadn't been late today? what if there were more than one of them? what if the gunman had hit someone?" all these questions raced through my head all day. You never know how precious your life is until you or your beloved friends and family are face to face with a terrifying situation. If you took the time to read this I thank you so much this felt like a good place to vent. I am sad to say my school has now been added to the on campus shooting list however, I am proud to say I go to a school with such strong people and outstanding faculty.
