I just want you to know that the guy in the red suit in the original Japanese footage used in Power Rangers is the same guy who played Dracul in the Sailor Moon musicals.
OMG I never would have guessed. Now THAT’S the career trajectory of a legend.
Ok apparently I misjudged Cardcaptors. To be honest, I've only seen one episode of the CCS dub, though I've seen the entire series, movies and all, in Japanese. I got the impression, from general knowledge, that the plot was basically the same as the original. I figured they toned down things like Touya and Yukito's relationship, Tomoyo's seemingly-more-than-friends feelings for Sakura, and that one classmate of Sakura's that is in love with a teacher. But that IS sort of lame that they downplayed Sakura in favor of Li. No, more than lame actually. Yes, Li is a major character, and a decent rival to Sakura (he actually captures some of the Clow Cards himself, and he even gets to battle Yue I think, though he fails). But Sakura is the TITLE character for goodness sake. It's kinda a slap in the face. CLAMP has a lot of strong female characters in their series, even the ones where the protagonists are men. Characters like Sakura, Yuuko, Chi, Hikaru, Umi, Fuu, Misaki, etc. They themselves are a group of four women who write and draw manga. Sakura in particular ends up becoming essentially the most powerful magician in the world, and she's like 12 by the time the series is over. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle even suggests that at some point, Sakura will be able to use the Cards without her Star Key, and Eriol at the end of the CCS manga specifically has her do a spell to split his magic cause he doesn't want to be the most powerful magician any more, and knows that she can do it. So it's unfortunate that she would be downplayed. I see them promoting the show as some action-adventure show with mystical aspects (the theme song definitely suggests this), kinda like Yu-gi-oh, especially since upping the amount of Clow Cards to 52 makes the show more of a "monster of the week" type show. (In the manga, there are only 19 Clow Cards, and Sakura has captured three of them - Windy, Fly, and Jump - by the time the story starts). But Sakura should've still been the star.
he's just such a lil guy 💙
“a greaser mouse with a teeny knife“ for @ramavoite 💕
ramavoite replied to your post “I think Touya could be a great friend of Haruka, both are dramatic...”
But Yukito and Haruka have the same voice, wouldn't that get weird?
Touya’s internal monologue the entire freaking time: but WHY is her voice SO FAMILIAR
ramavoite replied to your photo “Y’ALL KNOW I GOTTA WATCH THE SPECIALS OF COURSE I’ve seen Kirari Super...”
Release order is Special Act and then Act 0. And you should also definitely watch the Super Dance Lesson. :D
I MUST LEARN HOW TO DANCE LIKE THE SENSHI
Oooh, are we sharing D&D characters? Because my current one is a dragonborn who comes from a family that's always followed Io, her older brother is a cleric of Io, and she decided to have a teenage rebellion and become a paladin of Bahamut because YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME, MOM. So now she's off trying to Prove Herself and in the last session got knocked below 0 hp three times because she doesn't know the meaning of "retreat".
you know what this character is? this is spite incarnate. i really hope she does well in life. she has the ultimate motivator.
