there’s a special kind of respect i hold for comic artists and mangaka like ts is not for the weak 😓
like wdym you’re conveying motion and tone through judiciously chosen shapes and still images chosen for the most impact that have to work cohesively together on one page and direct your attention all at once??
at least with animating you can just . pan the camera; each of these stills come one after another rather than all at once. and yeah with comics it is still sequential but their placement and how they’re introduced with the panelling and the contents within and around the panel also add to the tone they convey.
tbh it does kind of sound interesting to add comic elements and panels to an animation so maybe i’ll do that someday; but anyways i really need to change how i approach comic drawing like imagining it through the lens of an animator just doesn’t work orz
that sounds really obvious but it’s the whole way you think and visualise scenes; the difference in perspectives when it comes to comics and animation kills me like i can’t just use key frames as a panel?? wdym?? or maybe i’m overthinking it and being over ambitious; maybe if i read more comics and draw more while being mindful of their placement i’ll get a better feel for comic drawing _(:_」∠)_
I hate being a teenager holy fuck how am I even gonna make it to adulthood
I find it kind of fascinating how the way bg3 fandom views the characters seems to be strongly based on what gender they are.
Gale? In game, not much to be said of Mystra, even though she watched him since childhood and then they fucked later [of course it doesn't really matter since it's fictional,] but I am certain if Gale was a woman & Mystra a man then their relationship would perhaps even have it's own "railroad" of being mean to Male-Mystra and Tav explaining "grooming". But there isn't much of it, can't help but think him being male plays part...
Same for Astarion. The common view is UA = healing (Tav not allowing), and AA = mostly "tragedy" and bashing. But make him a woman and I can't help but think fandom would 100% think it's "girlboss hot mommy" if he was a woman, and anti-UA would be majority instead, "not letting a woman take her abuser's shit gloriously," "taking away her autonomy" - and I imagine writing of post-Ascension railroad would be written very positive, or at least, with positive dialogue option - and most would not dream of defending expressions which were added to the p6 kisses (thankfully fixed).
Similar, I think Minthara would be as hated as AA (if not more) is she was male, talking of dosing poison to her partner, etc.
There is probably something deeper here, because I do notice in many fandoms a discrepancy of how evil/hurt characters are viewed based on genders, especially how male characters are viewed and written which I find strange. I was replaying & I always go God-Gale and AA +Minthy(sometimes Lae'zel) in my party, it made me think of how different rp is done for everyone apart of that one AA scene. Because unfortunately writers can struggle to separate their bias in writing. (In my opinion, all romance routes should have positive option towards LI at such story points, since they are romance routes.)
