Ok so on one hand I absolutely love all the fan depictions of Lotor and the Lancelot content because I think it’s super interesting and has a lot of good narrative potential
But on the other hand I really, really don’t ever want it to be canon. Like I actually want Lotor to be coded as very heterosexual, or to never have his sexuality hinted at in any way, because I’m super sick of the ‘deviant evil queer’ stereotype as a whole. I’m desperately hoping for some type of positive, confirmed representation from this show, not a perpetuation of an archaic, harmful trope. I’m not saying nobody is allowed to make evil queer characters ever...but if that is your FIRST or ONLY representation of us, then that’s an issue.
...Not gonna stop me from enjoying the possibilities in fandom, tho. ‘Cause in fandom, I can make everyone gay and have plenty of representation and nobody can stop me :D
you’d think in the year 2018 on tumblr I’d be able to reply to comments on my posts made by my side blogs with my side blog accounts instead of only being able to reply via my main account
Had I known what a pain in the ass it was to have side blogs I would’ve kept it all crammed into one but I foolishly assumed tumblr would have given us those simple, ease-of-use tools by now
So I graduated
I am officially a master with a master’s degree and can do masterful things.
Now that I’m regaining a semblance of life again I figured I could dust off the ol’ art blog and try to post more consistently.
I need to figure out if I want to keep this a strict art blog, strictly sfw, or pepper in some nsfw. Or I might make a separate blog for that idk.
Anyway, hi everybody I hope you all loved season 6 of voltron as much as I did. Please don’t dig too far back in this blog because all the art is a year+ old at this point rippppp
made the mistake of reading some comments on discourse
RIP why do I like suffering
Man fandom nowadays is so much different from when I was growing up. When I was a kid, I hid my age and tried to appear mature to fit in. Nowadays, I see so many bios like, “I’m a minor uwu don’t interact if ur a problematic adult” and it’s especially amazing when they use it as a way to deflect any kind of negative feedback or responsibility. They’ll spout all the toxic discourse they want in a public forum, but when someone tries to respond to them, it’s “you’re an adult engaging with a minor wtf is wrong with you.”
Like it’s 100% important for adults to be mindful of how they interact with kids in fandom space, but I’ve definitely seen teens use it as a “I get to say what I want then get out of jail free” card. And I suppose that’s to be expected because they’re teens but...
Damn, I just wish there was a space like tumblr for fandom things, but explicitly 18+. Adults made fandom, keep fandom thriving, and have every right to exist in it without tiptoeing all the time. I think the internet is lacking in a good website for smaller fandom groups like we used to have.
Would be willing to bet a fandom space without the kiddos would be 100000% more chill. Not discourse-free, but definitely better.
I guess people just make a discord server for that stuff now?
I know we always joke about how all Americans go crazy on the 4th and blog shit about America and flood everyone’s dashes for 24 hours and all that, but like this year I just can’t even find it amusing and hope it doesn’t even happen. Pretty ashamed of this fuck-ass country.
Glad for the day of no classes tho, I guess.
I honest to god just can't stand Twitter thread rants. the format is so. bad. maybe I'm an old fart but I just don't read them anymore. don't care what amazing point is being made if I feel like my thoughts are being interrupted every 150 characters
