Just started playing unbeatable recently! It's definitely an interesting one. It's taking me a minute to really get what it's going for; there's stuff about it that I'm not really used to. I kinda like it though.
The giant action scenes aren't hitting for me as much as I hoped. I'm the sort of person who rewinds action scenes in cartoons to really take in the full flow of each action, and you can't really do that here. But overall it's kinda challenging how I think about and play games. It encourages you to play a lot more directly than I'm used to. There's less player choice involved and you're mostly along for the experience. Hesitation breaks the pacing.
There's not a ton of hidden secrets and dialogue around either, which is kind of refreshing. It's a game that pushes you to keep moving forward to get the full experience instead of painstakingly scouring the map to see if you missed anything. I usually like open areas, but they kinda stress me out because I feel the need to find everything before moving on, so this is kinda freeing.
And the narration is fascinating too. I love the ways the "dialogue choices" are used to say something about what you're doing rather than really giving you a choice. The whole experience is really curated.
It's less gameplay-focused than I expected, especially after playing [white label] forever ago, and the more visual novel-ish approach is taking getting used to. But I'm enjoying it so far.
I'm only just past chapter 2, but I'm excited to see what happens going forward.
