thinkin about how Dusty has more people caring for him after his death, decades later. i dont talk about it much but its bittersweet. he was famous for his violence and quick hand, but as the years gone by, after Ernesto's publishings about him and the adventures they had, i like to think he became fairly popular. maybe he has a silly small museum where he grew up. maybe theres shitty videos on youtube about his life story, whether a few are good and take the time to care for the details and others focus on his time as a true outlaw. maybe theres some people saying he's an inspiration and get emotional over him, maybe theres still people who have the gall to call him a queer and a fag and all sorts of things despite him being a killer. i dont know, i think its just interesting to think about. I do know for sure though, Ernesto's original journals are showcased in a museum. they still have the pressed flowers and tear stains and cigar ash on the pages, and his little scribbles of dusty and his musings about how pretty or inspiring Dusty is or how much Dusty's made his heart ache that didnt make it to the final cut of the published journal. just thinking out loud.
