This routine is just brilliant. It fits these two so well. I feel like I shouldn't like as much as I do because it's all about objectifying a woman but something about it just overpowers that voice. (I think part of it is that whatever is going on seems to be consensual unlike THIS routine.) But anyway, I just think their performance is wonderful. The choreography is brilliant. Just everything about this routine is utterly charming.

I really love these two. I think that they have fabulous chemistry and Tyce choreographed this slow, sexy number. I just think that this routine conveys this like hazy, smooth love that you just fall into and it's easy. It's really gorgeous and unique.

Kicking off Season 5 with my favorite ballroom. This was a tough decision, because there are definitely BETTER ballroom routines this season, but I really love this jive. I admit that I am a bit of an Evan fan girl, I know there are much better dancers on the season but I really LOVED his Broadway style (being a lover of jazz, swing and theater I ate it up.) Randi and Evan were super cute together and this jive makes me wanna dance. I also really love this song!

#8: "Koop Island Blues" (Randi/Evan contemporary), Top 16

I think the best part about this routine for me is how many different stories I can come up with in my head to logically explain why this is even happening. Does Randi know Evan, or is he just some random guy off the street? If she does know him, why is she letting him follow her around while dressed like a hobo? Does he own a pair of pants that fit him? Does he really not have anything better to do with his time than stare at some girl's ass for that long? Is this a common occurrence for Randi and is that why she's totally unconcerned with his ass-staring? 

I could go on forever. It's quite entertaining. Mia and her wacky ideas. 

Randi gets kudos for doing this dance in the first place since it meant that everyone and their cousin was looking at her butt and I know that would have made me incredibly uncomfortable. It's kind of funny since she was so self-conscious about the samba and all the shimmying she had to do. I guess since that was out of her style. At least she knew what she was doing while Evan was chasing her butt around the stage.

After watching Will and Amelia's version in season 9, I realized that there are some bobbles here and there and the dancing isn't always perfect, but the charm of the routine is Randi and Evan. I guess that's why a redo wasn't the best idea, since so much of the routine hinged on the fact that Randi and Evan were the ones dancing it in the first place. But this is one of those routines that no one ever forgets. 

Because ass.

#32: "I Only Have Eyes For You" (Randi/Evan jazz), Top 20

I think I've admitted before that Tyce's jazz routines are less offensive to me than anything else he does. (So long as they aren't done to awkward porn music like Robert and Lauren's in season 7, anyway.) I think this happens to be a very well done routine. The choreography is nice, the mood is nice, and Randi and Evan's chemistry is just right.

I mean, it's a little weird to see Evan's "sexy come hither" face, but I can overlook it, lol. Randi said that it was the thing she'd miss the most after they split up, and I took that to mean that she didn't take it very seriously, either. I especially love the parts where it looks like they're just breathing together. Tyce actually took care with the choreography here. /grumbles

On a completely unrelated note: It has always thrown me off that Randi's last name is the same as Evan's first name. Just throwing that out there.

#45: "Shake A Tail Feather" (Randi/Evan jive), Top 18

You know what, I really wish that Evan and Randi had gotten standard at some point. My only issue with him in his other standard dances was that he looked strange trying to partner the other girls, and I feel like he could have pulled it off with Randi. Considering she held up her end of the bargain, that is.

But I like this jive. After so many seasons of fail jives, it's nice to see one that actually went well and didn't lose energy halfway through. Randi and Evan also had great chemistry, so it was all around entertaining. I just didn't think it was super memorable, but each time I watch it, I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I like it. 

And it also proves that jive is an anomaly within Latin styles. I still think it's weird that it's included. I assume that the distinction between Latin and standard has to do with whether or not it's done completely in hold or not (among other things?), but it still doesn't fit. But I guess that's just logistics.

But yeah. This is a pretty good jive.

#51: "Rich Man's Frug" (Randi/Evan Broadway), Top 14

I felt a little bad for Evan after this dance. The judges all said they were disappointed since this was his style and they expected him to do better, but I don't actually think this is his style. Evan's style of Broadway is obviously a lot lighter and cheesier than this, and this is why the "Broadway" distinction is weird on this show at times. Some of these Broadway routines are indistinguishable from jazz routines. You know, because Broadway is jazz.

But I like this routine. I thought they danced it really well. I don't think it's the most memorable routine in the world, which is why it's not very high on the list, but it's not bad or anything. In fact, this whole section of dances coming up are routines that could pretty much go in any order since they aren't bad but they're not extremely memorable. 

So I don't know why the judges said they were disappointed with Evan. I think he danced this as well as he could have and they were in character well enough, but this routine was never going to be super amazing. Oh well.

#59: "Halo" (Randi/Evan lyrical hip-hop), Top 12

When Nigel was critiquing this routine, he praised Nappytabs for giving Randi and Evan a hip-hop routine that would make them look good. I could have torn my hair out. For all that lyrical hip-hop bothers me in the later seasons, it was tenfold in the older seasons when Nigel was convinced that it was the best thing to ever happen to hip-hop. And said so. Often.

K, besides the fact that this routine is basically jazz, I don't think Randi and Evan are very good at it. The routine itself managed to disguise that they're both pretty hopeless at hip-hop, Randi moreso than Evan. Maybe they would have tried harder with different material to work with, but this is pretty weak. 

They almost save it by being cute, but I find this kind of cheesy, if I'm being honest, mostly because I'm a Scrooge. At least they gave it their all. (Because really, Nappytabs. All the concepts in the world...pregnancy? Okay.)
