Okay, so that wasn't the type of RandL vlog I was hoping to see, and Link's complaining was a bit much, but Rhett showing Jessie the book and looking so soft and nervous was the cutest thing. I watched that part like 10 times. 😍

Blurry memories of holding hands

One of the details in the lore of Rhett and Link is that they once had the same girlfriend, Lesli. She first dated Rhett, and then moved on to Link. What I’ve always found the most interesting thing about this story the guys have repeated over and over when telling about their lifelong friendship, is that crushing on the same girl never rocked their bond with each other. If anything, it somehow made their friendship stronger.

So, in today’s Rhett and Link vlog, the guys revisit the past by making a video call to Lesli, who now is happily married with kids, and seems to have mostly forgotten about her teenage affairs with these two. And yes, like Rhett points out in a clip filmed while editing the video, Link has focused their camera in the wall behind them, for the duration of most of the call. Oopsie.

I should be bummed by this, but honestly, I think it’s kinda adorable that made such a rookie mistake, and proves that they are actually doing these vlogs on their own. Had this been a GMM, there would have been a second take, but this is a vlog, and no way could they call Lesli again with a sharper focus. The only thing that this really affects is that screen shots and gifs will be of lower quality, but I can live with that. And they aren’t blurry all the time, so let’s just focus on the call.

Lesli was the first girlfriend for both Rhett and Link, and it soon becomes apparent that they didn’t have a very earthshattering impact on her life. Instead of focusing on her, Rhett takes this call as an opportunity to demonstrate how he tried to kiss Lesli at a dance, and of course, he needs Link to assist in the demonstration. One could say, Rhett just likes to hold hands with Link, and moments like this are a great excuse for doing just that. I mean, remember this?

Too bad, this moment with Lesli didn’t end with a smooch, but with a distraction in form of Rhett’s dad. And Link was probably more open to actually kiss than Lesli ever was, and he also seems to be so much more fascinated by Rhett’s story than Lesli. My favourite thing about this vlog actually is that the guys are sitting extra close to each other.

Since this post is already going off the rails a bit, can I just point out, that these two, after sneaking into a girls’ slumber party, ended up in a closet together? It reminded me of a fic I wrote ages ago about a scientific experimet involving a closet.

This wasn’t supposed to be a rhink post, but that happened. So, I take the liberty to end this post with the words Link says at the end of the video, and I also want to point out that when saying the part “love the most”, he looks at Rhett. Let’s talk about that, shall we?
