So about the dragon kin Ed’s roughly 3/4 dragon aunts/uncles who have gone feral:

They are immensely powerful, to the point one on one they can overwhelm a regular dragon via brute force, though this takes a while. Dragon kin gain power by claiming a nest and doing what Edward has called ‘storm forming’. Where they form a storm above the main area they nest. Over time this storm grows and feeds their power. They also tend to accumulate drakes, wyverns and other non-sentient flying reptiles as guardians.

When a dragon kin is forced to move and leaves their storm for a long time their power drops massively however under their fully storm they are, arguably, some of the singular most powerful beings on the planet.

They are by extension territorial and relatively sedentary though their storms can exist over hundreds of square kilometers at their peak.

The birth of dragon kin is exceedingly rare and usually they are dealt with young. Oba, in her ‘infinite wisdom’ birthed about as many dragon kin in 30 years as had been born in a millennium.

She also realized that two of them would kick her ass to the curb so she shoved them out of Terastria ASAP and used as many of her descendents as possible to ensure this happened basically as soon as the dragonkin shifted into a dragon form. Once that happened they would feralize in minutes while growing in power by orders of magnitude.))
