Teen sharra except Shakes is confused and Skarra (whose name doesn't change until he joins IU, so his name's Samson) has internal homophobia and thinks his feelings towards Shakes are unrequited.
That thought gets nailed in the coffin for him near the end of their senior year, when Samson, who planned to ask Shakes out to prom, catches a girl from their team confessing to him instead (I'll name her Angie), with him accepting.
And now he's angry and runs away halfway through prom night, and Shakes leaves his date to chase after him in the rain. They argue, and that's when Shakes gets his first kiss, like, ever.
But then Samson thinks Shakes wants to beat him up for it, so out of fear, he runs away again. And Shakes can't catch up to him cause his mom called for him as he ran past his house, and by the time he looks back, Samson's turned the corner, so he has no choice but to head back inside.
And that's when they begin to fall apart, and Samson blocks him after his family moves, and Shakes is just left there questioning what the fuck happened.

I'd write this, but my writing isn't poetic at all in any way, so I'll leave y'all to write this and their inner conflicts and shit.
