I fear we have lost the plot on what counts as a tumblr sexyman. I’ve see Ryland Grace doing well in the most recent Tumblr Sexyman poll, but guys, Grace is not a tumblr sexyman. He is Ryan Gosling, that is a traditionally attractive man.

A tumblr sexyman is not just a man that is popular on tumblr, it is a man/creature who is not traditionally attractive but that finds a cult following and is MADE attractive by tumblr users. Sans is a tumblr sexyman, the purple guy is a tumblr sexyman, the onceler is a tumbler sexyman. I will even accept characters like Stan Pines because he is primarily a weird old man, but he is on the fence.

The tumblr distinction is that they are only sexy on tumblr. If you show a true tumblr sexyman to an average person they should think you are a little crazy. It’s gotta be a hear me out. But Ryan Gosling is not a tumblr sexyman! That is just a sexy man!

Thinking about the phrase “sleeping like a rock” in context of Eridians. How Eridian sleep has them completely paralyzed and unable to wake up until their sleep cycle is over. And when a human sleeps really deeply and it seems like nothing can wake them up we call it “sleeping like a rock”

This isn’t anything deep or insightful at all, I just thought it was kinda fun.

I’m so good at finding connections between hyperfixations with seemingly no overlap.

I was listening to the Groundhog Day musical again cause I had a long drive and I got to the song “Hope” and I was like, hold on this song is kinda Creature coded. And like, Groundhog Day and GDT Frankenstein both deal with themes of immortality and how to find meaning in life when you have no choice but to live.

Do you see it? The visions?

Audible feels like a scam, or at least a rip off. Like what do you mean I have to pay a membership subscription and still have to pay for basically every book? Just charge me individually for the book then???

So I’m on a time loop media kick cause I listened to the Groundhog Day musical, and one thing that has always nagged at me in time loops is what happens to everyone else. Like does the day reset for everyone but only the loopers remember, or does everyone else keep going? Cause in Groundhog Day, there’s a scene where Rita and Larry are standing over Phil’s body, but for Phil the day gets reset when he dies so this scene implies that for everyone else time keeps going. But then that begs the question, what happens to Phil the next day on the loops he doesn’t die? Does he lose memory of the loops? Are there infinite branching timelines where he gets out on different days but it just so happens the one we’re following is the one where he doesn’t get out till loop three thousand something or other? The implications!!!!!

Interesting observation, so you know how Bill calls everyone on the cipher wheel by their symbol (question mark, shooting star, pine tree, even Sixer), and in fic a lot I see Bill calling Stan mackerel or fez (usually the former). But whenever bill actually address Stan in canon, both in the show and in the book of bill, he always calls him Stanley, which I think is really interesting. This could just be an unintentional inconsistency or something (Bill also refers to Gideon by his name as opposed to Star or something), but if we read it as intentional, it’s interesting to imagine what that could imply.

Here’s my take. Bill doesn’t consider Stanley a threat. He sees him as an inferior conman, and disregards him completely. He doesn’t call Stan by his cipher wheel symbol, because he refuses to acknowledge that Stan could possibly play any part in his destruction. (Honestly this could explain Gideon too, because he doesn’t see him as anything other than a pawn). That’s why it kills him so much that Stan was ultimately the one who defeated him, because he wasn’t supposed to be important.

I wish that I could get more into fix-it fics. Like I totally understand the appeal and the want to see a happier ending to a tragic story, but as someone who really loves tragic stories I feel like most fix-it stories kind of compromise the impact of the original story. Like in any good tragedy, the tragedy is the point, and so taking the story and being like, but what if nothing bad ever happened, just feels kinda cheap and hollow to me.

I totally get the appeal as pure escapism especially if you really care for the characters, but personally if I want to see something like that I’d rather a complete au, not canon divergence but different setting or timeline altogether, than something that just removes all the conflict from the original story. Does anyone else feel this way?
