At the sound of voices, Scape instinctively drew up his hood, effectively covering his ears. The shadow caused by his hood served to keep much of his face obscured. He moved his tail between him and his legs. He wasn’t ashamed of his features, in fact he found them awesome, but something told him these people might not agree.
“Well well, what do we have here?” He turned to face three mean-looking men. Alarm bells went off in Scape’s head as he slowly backed up. Something told him they wouldn’t fancy giving him directions.
“How ‘bout you hand over everything in that fancy Rem Fair bag of yours? If you hand it over nice and easy, we’ll make it fast. Right, boys?” Scape wasn’t sure what a “Ren Fair” was, but he doubted he was facing nice people.
“We can talk about this,” He held up his hands. “I mean, do you REALLY wanna rob an unaccompanied fourteen year old? I don’t even have much, really.” Unless they wanted his library books or various medical supplies, he doubted he’d be able to give them much. He only had about 20 rupees.
“Eh, might as well,” The lead guy shrugged. “Money’s tight, and the Bat ain’t here.” Scape didn’t know who this “Bat” was, but it did give him an idea…
“Ya might wanna take that back.” He made a show of looking behind the thugs. Thankfully, they fell for it. I don’t have much time. I gotta get outta here!
Scape looked for something, ANYTHING, and quickly climbed up a large, cold waterspout. It wasn’t climbing a tree, but he managed. The thugs yelled in anger below him, promising a bad fate if he fell. As soon as he reached the top of the structure, he took off.
