love how kids in horror movies are like ‘daddy can I go play in the basement? the bone lady who lives in the walls said she was going to show me something special down there.’ meanwhile when I was growing up I was afraid to even go downstairs alone without the light on.
so that ridiculous halloween sale rack teletubby looking costume was for real huh? they wanted me to take that seriously? Guess he’s gotta look dumb af given that he’s basically a parody of all the fandom’s complaints. Imagine if we just had him be an actual serious, cool character....played by Tom Hiddleston. But nah can’t have that. Then ppl might like him.
But seriously. Where did the budget go? If they weren’t gonna spend it on the production they could’ve at least spent it on writing lessons for Mike Waldron bc good god is it bad. No wonder he couldn’t sell this script when it was his original time travel rom com. And he’s only made it worse since. If they were gonna give us a stupid comedy they should’ve at least made the jokes funny.
I thought this trailer was definitely better than the first one in that it felt more like loki and I was super happy to see him use magic and also snark at people instead of just get mocked. I also liked his snarky lines. esp him being all ‘it’s adorable you think you can manipulate me.’ like yeah. you go loki. burn the TVA. both figuratively and literally. lmao I hope he double crosses them and escapes in the end.
I was also glad to see more moments in the trailer when he had his more reserved, subtle air and expressions. tho there were still moments like the over-exaggerated startle at the cat still felt a bit ooc to me. some of his dialogue still felt a little too casual and different from his usual rhetorical style. this is picking up after Avengers so Loki should be in the same mindset he was in at the beginning of Thor: The Dark World. He’s just been tortured and now he’s been captured by an organization he doesn’t trust and that doesn’t trust him or have his best interests at heart.
also from a narrative perspective I'm not sure that the ‘I know everything about you’ thing really works as a storytelling device. if they’re trying to do a buddy cop dynamic between them, how is that supposed to work if he already supposedly knows everything about loki and has made up his mind about him? like then they can’t get to know each other and he can’t learn about loki or change his opinion on him.
also if he knows everything about him already why doesn’t he care the took was tortured and mind controlled into invading NYC by Thanos?? also why does he think Loki constantly betrays people? In Thor 2011 he spent centuries watching the others’ backs before he finally snaps early on in the film. And even then he doesn’t actually betray anyone that often. Like sure he FIGHTS Thor but he doesn’t often outright betray him.
I feel like it would make more sense for the TVA to know less about Loki if they’re going to distrust him so much. I mean if they just knew him as the person who attacked a town in thor 2011, invaded New York, and stole the tesseract their attitude would make more sense imho. OR it would also work if they had the TVA to just be evil and want to use Loki and not really care that he was tortured.
My issue isn’t ‘oh they’re not being nice to him.’ It's that despite the fact that they apparently know all about his life the TVA’s characterization of Loki as fundamentally untrustworthy and their complete lack of empathy for the fact that he has literally just escaped being tortured and mind controlled, and their lack of interest in the fact that he didn’t invade NYC of his own volition, are all framed by the narrative as justified. So it again feels like unfair villain coding of Loki. Though of course it’s hard to completely judge from the trailer. this was however a huge improvement from the first trailer so I am somewhat hopeful.
Now if Evelyn isn't at the treehouse anymore, it's very likely after some major searching, they'd find her somewhere...
Namely, they would likely find her staring ponderously at a strange stone structure that had somehow risen out of the earth as of late. As for why that had happened, that was a question more for her to answer, but there she would be, rain tarp over her head and a particularly soggy campsite not that far away.
Regardless of whatever thoughts were going on in her head at the time, she would remain silent almost as if in vigil, waiting for something to happen.
Maybe she was expecting the sealed doors to open and something to come out or... someone to find their way there and try to break inside. It was hard to tell.
Regardless, she seems to be refusing to budge from this spot.
If anyone could hear what was going on in that chaotically tumultuous mind of hers, I'd suppose it might be best to say that she thought that she would be in the way if she stayed at the treehouse for much longer... However, the rest would seem more like a mess of blurry and fragmented memories, confusion, pain, and something far more difficult to describe.
It could be easily said that the structure reminded her of more than a few dark memories... even it was unclear as to why.
Evie would totally lend her kid sister her own hammer, but only on the condition that she doesn't smack anything she doesn't want to be shook violently, liquidated, or rattled to dust.
That's not even counting the usual shockwave damage it tends to create... Maybe lending that thing is not a good idea?
“Why do I get the feeling that Daten City around Halloween gets really weird?”
