This is nothing but me trying to get something out of my head. It possibly won't be a good idea at all but if i don't try it won't stimulate my imagination.
Hibiki Majutsu gakuen. Hibiki academy of Magic. This is the top school where spirit essence users attend. Only one thousand applicants are received each year and are then ranked after an entry test. The top 10 is immediately appointed "Divine Guardians" of the school, a post given to the most skilled spirit essence users. They had better facilities, power over other students and even had the right not to come to classes. Only geniuses got this title.
This year, the entry examination took place in spring. Beautiful sakura trees were on the sides of the main way to the entrance of the grand academy that was Hibiki gakuen. The portal was made of gold and small sapphires decorated each vertical bars. The huge building behind, with a large garden just in front of it, which looked like was very well maintained by the academy, was just as majestic.
Kagami Taiga was a tall and muscular guy with natural ferocious tiger-like eyes, with red hair. He one day miraculously manipulated spirit essence and since then he never stopped trying to get better. Sadly, his performance so far is poor : he has awful control over his huge essence quantity, is awkward and short tempered. Even if everyone is telling him that he's bad at it, he's a try hard who never gives up. As expected, his entry exam went poorly. His face, which was enlightened by the view around him just before entering the building changed drastically to a frustrated one as he saw the test before him. Even the practical exercises went bad. He didn't even manage to gather the essence in a small ball in his palm, of the size of a tennis ball. It just exploded at his face and he was sent back in the hall. His sulking didn't stop until he saw the result in the evening.
"Seriously... I'm beginning to think I'm pretty crazy to have come to such a big-ass school. Not like I'm a big shot at this magic thing... The only thing I have for me is the mass of essence I can produce, keep and release all at once. I can't manage small quantities or accuracy with this thing... shit."
But at least, he was in. The jury must have noticed some potential in him. Wait but... he wasn't last ?
"Who the hell could be worse at this than me ? He must be so lame... ahah!"
It was already summer and Kagami had enough of those classes already. All he cared about was fighting it out with people like him after classes everyday. Students in his ranking "class", which was from rank 800 to 1000. He never encountered a Divine Guardian yet. He just was told that they were also called the Generation of Miracles, as Hibiki gakuen never had such prodigies in their hundred years of existence. He also never quite got who was ranked 1000th, as for himself, he got the nickname of "Second Worst" very quickly. Other students in his classroom often made fun of him but not enough to anger him to the point where he would actually get violent with them. They were careful enough not to do so. Those days, he was bothered a lot by this Generation of Miracles thing. He wanted to meet them. He wanted to know just how far he was from their level, what they were capable of, what was their names, how they looked like.
"Probably some Mama's boy or Papa's girl who got in for free and always had a talent in this since they were born... Tch."
Just as he was thinking that, the only one he could really call his friend made him get out of his thoughts.
"Taiga, wanna grab something to eat and watch the second years going at it in the backyard ?"
"Tatsuya... Yeah, I guess so..."
Himuro Tatsuya, a tall black haired boy with a mole under the eye. He was pretty handsome and a lot of girls were asking him out, without success. As Himuro suggested, they each took a yakisoba sandwich and went to the backyard, the second years playground.
Two guys were fighting at a frightening speed, using their essence under their feet and in their leg muscles to accelerate even further. Sparkles from static electricity were flying here and there, as the friction between their feet and the ground was exerting. After ten minutes, one of the two guys clearly won as the other lied on the ground but it didn't stop the winner who wanted to beat him to a pulp for some reason. Apparently, a girl. That's when Kagami met the first Divine Guardian since he attended Hibiki gakuen. A tall boy with weird green hair and glasses appeared out of nowhere just between the winner and the loser.
"What do you think you're doin' huh ? Wanna get some too, fucker ?"
The green haired boy sighed and put his glasses further up his nose with his taped fingers. Was he injured...?
"Who do you think you are speaking to, unlucky one ? I can tell that you are unlucky because you happened to offense me, one of the Ten. You must be a Libra."
What the-... What the hell was this guy even saying in the middle of a fight, in front of an extremely angered second year who only wanted to pummel his opponent !
The guy roared and launched himself at the Divine Guardian with full speed and force, completely surrounded of static electricity which seemed even more fierce than before. It took half a second. Probably no one noticed it in the crowd. Only Kagami was able to perceive it. His vision in fights was really something since fighting was all he was capable of. A slight gesture of the left hand of the glasses guy who applied some pressure to the cavity between the forearm and the arm itself. His left foot slightly touched his enemy's one, just enough to make it loose balance to the point the left knee would kneel. The offender just seemed like he fell on his own a few centimeters away from the Divine Guardian.
"Do not forget the name. Midorima Shintarou. The person who was luckier than you. I'll have this from you and report your attitude just now."
He took his student ID card and left. The crowd was whispering, still not understanding what happened.
"Eeeh. He's quite something, right Tatsuya ?"
Kagami had to admit it, this guy was totally out of his league. He still felt him emanating a HUGE mass of spirit essence while having PERFECT control over it. It was pure perfection and nothing else. Luck had nothing to do with this, so he didn't understand why he was talking about luck.
"That's even frightening. I'd better not do anything that could make him angry, and you too should do the same Taiga. C'mon let's go back, it's over here."
Something made his heart beat faster. He couldn't quite put his finger on it but one thing was certain. If they were all like HIM... then he had nothing but one goal for as long as he was staying here.
"Interesting... that's a challenge I won't let down ! Bring it on, I'll beat every one of you Divine Guardians !"
