ANIMAL ALLEY
by Clinton Bopp and Random Act
Now known for organizing neighborhood beautification projects across Los Angeles, or as Making LA Together put it, “transforming alleys into art corridors” Gabba Gallery owner Jason Ostro launched Animal Alley in 2015 between Glendale Blvd and Douglas Street. New Zealand transplant Clinton Bopp, and Andrea LaHue, aka Random Act, each with a history of working on Gabba projects, decided to team up and work together on this jungle-themed wall. Bees, dragonflies, and hummingbirds are common elements in much of Bopp’s work, and Random Act made a name for herself with her botanicals painted in 51 U.S. cities as part of her Flowers for the People project. Working together they brought many of their trademark elements, but Random Act told the LA Times this piece was inspired by the spiritual quality of the South American jaguar and its significance for mind, body, and spirit. @clintonbopp @andrealahue @gabbagallery
