Copenhagen night 1, part 2
Later in the night, after we left Tivoli
We decided that instead of walking around and trying to find a cool bar or club, we would just go to the first one we saw. Sadly Anne had to go back to her house to study for a test she had the next day, in order to get into Veterinarian school in Copenhagen. So Nick, Suzanne and I didn’t want to walk around, wondering where the best places were. Also, many places have a high cover charge, and we didn’t want to run into that roadblock considering Copenhagen is already one of the most (if not the most) expensive cities in Europe. On the way there I somehow managed to fall completely on the uneven cobblestone and rolled my ankle. Not only that, I landed on my knee and hip and caught myself with my right thumb, so it was instant bruises everywhere. I was determined to not let this ruin the night, so after laying pathetically in the street for a minute or so, my friends helped me up and I hobbled on so we could continue our night.
So after “the fall”
We ended up in this dive bar with a lot of people in their mid 40s, 50s, and every other decade thereafter. There was a live band playing a variety of different music genres, and they were actually pretty good. There was a big dance floor, but when we got there no one was dancing. Occasionally an older couple would get up and dance, but usually for no more than 10 minutes. After a few rounds of drinks, including two rounds of the night’s special: TEN jägermeister shots for the 3 of us to share, (so German) Needless to say, we were definitely feeling ready to dance. (The jäger shots were closer to half shots, just in case there was any concern.) We took hold of the dance floor like the fresh-out-of-college kids that we are. Being the youngest people in the bar, we were definitely getting some looks from the other people, from confused and frightened, to amusement and laughter. Many of the people in the bar ended up on the dance floor as well, and I like to think we started the party. What happened later, we’ll never know. However, what started as a low-key night turned out to be a lot more fun and crazy than expected. I think the nights that start out like this usually make the best memories, and I already am looking back on that night with laughter and reminiscence.
