Random spoilerish meandering on tonight's Peaky Blinders episode.
Okay, so I love Tommy x Grace. I DO.I have wanted Grace to return since the end of Series 1.
BUT I ALSO LIKE MAY. I REALLY REALLY LIKE MAY. I HAPPEN TO LOVE CHARLOTTE RILEY, YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. And I like her character, I think this was a totally understandable development. But of course Grace didn't come back until after they'd gotten together. BECAUSE THIS IS JUST A DRAMATIC PLOT TWIST. Like literally in tv shows, people you've loved and had leave NEVER EVER COME BACK UNTIL YOU'VE FUCKED AND FALLEN FOR SOMEONE ELSE. It just doesn't happen.
So yeah, it's for dramatic effect. And at the moment I don't mind because I really wanted Grace to come back. I want her and Tommy to meet on mutual terms and accept they cared for each other and they care for each other now. But maybe it's time for her to move on.
OR, if he and May are just casual lovers, THAT'S OKAY TOO. It's all right to just have these brief enjoyable passions, people. It's not the end of the world.
Basically I don't want Grace to come back only to die in Tommy's arms or something, that would suck ass. But if she comes back and says, 'you know what, I have moved on, and you never came to me in New York like I asked you to, so too bad." That would be grand. I could live with that.
SHE BETTER NOT DIE. IT'S NOT OKAY IF SHE JUST COMES BACK TO DIE.
Steven Knight is pretty awesome, so I have hope.
Maybe she and May will meet and have a good moment of 'hey, we're both pretty fucking awesome ladies, here's to us."
