So today I was helping my parents at the cathechese weekend, where the kids (around 12-13 years old) learn about our religion through fun games and small workshops and stuff, in preparation of their confirmation. I was to help in a big game in the forest alongside my brother and some of the other supervisors, because we had experience with such games with large groups of children as supervisors of a summer camp-ish thing (hard to explain in English, really). I’d only quickly combed my hair and put on a minimum of makeup and just some huge sweater, ripped trousers and old shoes, because we were just going to run around in the forest and there was a 101% chance I was gonna fall and get dirt all over me anyway. But I was completely fine with it because I knew no one there would give one bit about how I looked. Because the adults were proper humans whom I had met before (including my parents lol) and well, the kids were kids. among them were even some that I knew from last summer, with the summer camp thingie. It was lots of fun becasue there was a great atmostphere and playing around with kids is just loads of fun. But while my dad gave me and my brother a ride home after the game, he’d told me that a kid had come up to him and said in full innocent surprise “That beautiful girl is really your daughter?”. And I was amazed, like, wow. I hadn’t even tried to look pretty and I was acting so silly and not minding at all how I’d come across. And someone honestly thought and even said that I was beautiful. Basically, I had a really good day and my self-esteem got a boost.
