Melvin’s face twisted into a look of bored disappointment, but he sighed heavily and reached out, grasping her by the shoulder. Though his grip was tight, it was not quite hard enough to bruise. Just almost. “FINE,” he repeated, yanking her toward his chest and wrapping one arm around her shoulders tightly, as though to say “you can’t escape until I say so.” It was the only way he could do it without gagging.

Ryou had grown bored. Supposedly, after dying, he was supposed to make his way to heaven, or hell, or the afterlife... right? Instead, he had spent a great many years wandering the earth as ghost and trying to reconcile his past regrets. Funny how, even after all of that, he was still here.
He was somewhere new today. Usually he spent his days wandering through people’s houses, jumping in on their conversations, and pretending they could hear him. It was no different today, as he walked through the door as if it wasn’t there and called out a cheerful “Hullo!” He never expected anyone to respond anymore.
