A mini-review of the Android game ranDungeon:
A few days ago, while lurking in the Android Gaming subreddit, I came across called a game called ranDungeon. It claimed to have a character sprite editor and not have ads or even IAPs. Tried it without second thoughts because, well, I like drawing okay!
I made Raine from Symphonia, Jessie from Pokemon, and myself an original character cause why not? :)
I obviously had a LOT of fun with the sprite editor. In ranDungeon, you can make sprites of your main character and their weapon and shield.
In my case, I drew my own avatar and drew some chakrams. So she's basically dual wielding chakrams ala Mint of Threads of Fate / Colette in Tales of Symph. But not really, the other chakram's actually a shield lol.
It's actually a really, REALLY good game. And even if you set aside that sprite drawing gimmick, you still have a solid dungeon crawler game for android here. It's like Diablo, but I consider this game more similar to a game called Cladun from the PSP. Progression is via leveling up in the randomized dungeons and getting loot in-game.
So yeah... you can have your OCs or your fave characters delve in those dungeons.
The only catch in the game so far is that it has no music. But it isn't a problem for me. I just play some music from my phone's music player app. But it would be nice if the game had its own music or sound effects too. Basically, the game seems like a well-made beta, but an enjoyable one on its own already since the core game mechanics seem finished!
Here's a link of the game for your reference:

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be planning my next character's design for this game.
PS: And just to give you an idea how crazy I can get with drawing sprites for a game with customizable sprites like this, here are screenshots from my Cladun X2 game for your reference.
And yes, I drew these myself too. You probably won't find downloadable saves for this game with these sprites. I was college back then so I had more free time back then haha... :)
