☆ Why I Love Star Ocean Blue Sphere ☆
Hi! Been a while since I wrote something for this blog again. I was pretty busy with my work for the past few days but since it's already vacation till a new school term starts again, I have decided to write about my most favorite video game EVER which is Star Ocean Blue Sphere!
Star Ocean Blue Sphere is a direct sequel to Star Ocean the Second Story / Second Evolution. The premise is that 2 years after the events of Second Story, Claude, Rena, Celine, Precis, Bowman, Leon, Ashton, Dias, Ernest, Opera, Chisato and Noel have a new adventure in the planet Edifice.
Star Ocean Blue Sphere is a great game, and I personally consider it one of the best RPGs I have ever played. Don't let the fact that it's a Gameboy Color game make you think it's just a simple RPG considering the platform it belongs to. This is one of the most complex Gameboy Color RPGs I have ever played, gameplay-wise.
I love its gameplay very much, which is why it still remains as my most fave game ever even after I've played more modern games across the years! Here are some features that I love from Blue Sphere.
☆ Ability to Play as Multiple Playable Characters / Protagonists ☆
Star Ocean Blue Sphere lets you play as ANY of the party characters back in Second Story, in any combination, and you can switch characters in and out anytime, as long as the characters become available as the story progress (which is early on actually).
In other words, you are no longer limited to just having Claude and Rena as your overworld avatar or your main character in cutscenes (yes, dialogues can change across characters). Want to use Leon as your main character? Sure! Want Dias instead? Why not?
Heck, you can just HAVE BOTH LEON AND DIAS in your party together cause why not? And yes, it also means you can put Bowman and Precis, and Opera and Ashton in the same party too!
☆ It has LOTS of Exploration ☆
Star Ocean Blue Sphere's world is quite huge, there are lots of dungeons and there are a bunch of non-story/optional dungeons to explore too.
Battles are no longer random, you can see your enemies on the overworld and even do a preemptive strike to give you an advantage.
You can also swim if your character learns the skill for it. There are also some characters who can hover across gaps, use grappling hooks or even pick up plants.
☆ It has a very, VERY fun and interactive item creation system ☆
And finally, the feature that made Star Ocean Blue Sphere really, REALLY fun is how effort was put into the item creation. Now to start off, Star Ocean Second Story already has a robust item creation system, albeit quite basic and mainly menu-based. Blue Sphere takes it further by making item creation VERY interactive. How interactive? Well, here's some examples:
You stir and cook your own food. Manually.
You grind and process medicinal herbs to make medicine yourself by controlling the mortar and pestle yourself.
You can even forge your tools yourself by controlling the hammer.
Personally, the first time I played this I had minimal knowledge of Japanese but I really enjoyed it anyway because I just played around with it and enjoyed exploring the game world and playing the item creation minigames. It's worth experiencing for the depth of gameplay it has!
I have yet to find another game that feels as a complete, satisfying package of fun like Blue Sphere has been for me.
Well, that's it for now! Thanks for reading :)
I would like to take this time to just talk randomly about Yuyuko in Touhou Cannonball.
Touhou Cannonball has been a fun side game so far. And Yuyuko is cuteeeee~♡
Yuyuko is now officially gracing my home screen too. My heart is melting aaaaaaaaaah
Look at that smile, her idle pose is also really cute 😍
This game knows who I ship lol.
Ahem. Anyway, time to save until the time Rikako comes out. I hope Cannonball will have Touhou PC98 era characters. I like Rikako too!
Touhou Cannonball Quick Basic UI guide
I made a quick and dirty guide on the game's premise last time. This time here's a quick guide to the UI and menu stuff.
Before I continue, please be informed that my knowledge of Japanese is quite basic (though I can read some Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana). So if you spot errors in the translation or explanations, please feel free to correct me.
☆ Home Screen Main Menu ☆
This is the your home screen. You will see buttons to navigate the different game features. You can select whom you want to put in your home screen too.
There are two versions of this menu which you can switch to by clicking a button at the lower right corner. You know it switches if the icons become orange. Click it again to return to this menu with green icons.
☆ Home Screen Settings / Profile Editor ☆
This is where you set your profile and home screen character, accessible from the main menu button at the bottom left. The bunch of letters below the player name is your player ID which you can share for others to add you.
☆ Quests Menu ☆
This is the quests menu. Click on what you want to play in. Extra quests give you upgrading materials. Story Mode lets you see the, um, story.
☆ Characters Menu ☆
This is the characters menu. Manage your characters here.
☆ Board Team Menu ☆
The board team setting allows you to select your avatar and characters that can use spell cards (support / special effects) in the board game. The leftmost box lets you set your leader / avatar. The other 3 lets you select your main characters which can include your leader as well. The 4th box with nothing on it is a slot for another player's support character. Click on the box to set characters. Remember that the blue button should be pressed to confirm your settings.
☆ Battle Team Menu ☆
This lets you set your characters for the cannonball battle mode. I highly recommend setting strong characters here to increase your chance of winning cannonball battles (see below). Click on the character cards to change settings. The blue button confirms changes.
☆ Cannonball Battle ☆
Cannonball battles let you earn CB fast... if you win. It's important to set strong characters in the battle menu to increase your chances of winning. You can enter that mode by stepping onto this piece with the yin-yang orb.
The blue button lets you begin the battle.
The red button makes you not battle.
The green button lets you check your status.
Here is a screenshot of the cannonball battle. Battles are semi automatic. You can get a girl to target a specific enemy by clicking on the icons at the left. If you have earn CB quests it is highly recommended you do these to earn lots of CB if you win.
And that's it for the game basics. Have fun :)
A quick guide to Touhou Cannonball
When I heard there's a Touhou-themed gacha game I just HAD to get to play it, being a Touhou fan and all. The game's Touhou Cannonball, and it's a board game with Touhou characters that feels partly like Monopoly and that board game minigame from Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep.
For some reason, the game doesn't install via apk for me, but I have a Japanese google play account so I got to download it officially via play store instead.
If you played the board game minigame in Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, the mechanics would feel quite familiar. The goal is to collect currency known as CB, which you get via landing on blue / plus tiles or battling your opponent.
☆Map Symbols (basic)☆
The blue / plus tiles give a random amount of CB if you step on them. Red / minus tiles decrease your CB. Yellow gives you cards that give you effects. When you roll your dice you get to preview where you can step.
If you land on a tile another character is also on, you will battle that character. The battle involves getting a higher total of dots in your dice than your opponent gets. The winner can choose to stop the character from moving as well as take CB from her. There are other effects too but I haven't unlocked them yet it seems.
☆Battles☆
☆Getting to the goal☆
Eventually you will need to unlock the goal symbol once you are set. Make your character reach a shrine and "buy" the appearance of that goal symbol. You need to press the blue button to buy it.
Different stages have different win conditions however.
☆Some win conditions☆
The one highligted here, for example, has go to the goal symbol to clear the game. (See the symbol シンボル and ゴール there at the right? They are the Japanese words for symbol and goal...)
This one, on the other hand has earn 1500 CB first before your opponent does.
There may be other mission objectives but I've only played for a while and haven't explored the game much yet.
I apologize in advance if there are some mistakes in the guide. I actually can't read Japanese much aside from Hiragana and Katakana and a few Kanji so most stuff I know so far is based on instinct and trial and error. Kindly feel free to call my attention if there is something erroneous in my short basic guide.
There are farmable units in the game. I hope I get to recruit Yuyuko soon! She and Nitori are my faves!
Meanwhile, in Tales of Asteria, Eizen's serving dishes like a pro, Raine's serving lemonade wine no I swear it looks like lemonade okay fine it's wine drinks, Eleanor is serving a bowl full of appetizers while Lilith's flipping food from her frying pan until it goes off-screen for some reason.

Challenge the limited quests to collect “Casino Chips” in order to get 5☆ Raine [Bunny Girl], as well as other rewards. Raine can be evolved into 6☆ and her Evolution Crystals are obtained through milestones, exchange and event missions.
If you encounter and defeat Kunzite&Mikleo and Philia&Leia in these quests, they will drop more Casino Chips.
Exchange the Casino Chips to get 4☆ Velvet [Formal], as well as 5☆ Gaius and 4☆ Jade from the past event and the Evolution Crystals for Lloyd (main scenario reward).
Collect the “Slot Medals” and use them in the slot machine to get random rewards like the limited special item “Casino Dices” (gives 1,200 EX Skill exp points).
Holy... how the fudge did I nearly miss this?! Excuse me while I redownload Asteria real quick and farm for Raine's casino costume unit. I rerolled the hell out of her Marine alt in my account but I dropped Asteria a few weeks ago so I had no clue what was going on, so yeaaaah now that her alt this time is farmable I'm definitely gonna farm this one a lot... it's a Raine unit so OF COURSE I WANT TO HAVE IT OKAY!
Next time, Asteria, give Raine her formal wear too please?! :)
So there's a sorta kinda "hidden" toggleable feature in the android Tumblr app that lets you use the app itself to draw something and get to post that drawing directly from the app.
The above pic is my attempt at drawing using the in-app drawing tool.
It's usable, but hard to use IMO for phones. There's no zoom in or zoom out feature which would have been useful for smaller screens. There's no bucket tool as well. But the line tool is pretty good, it's simple but responsive.
Oh no I'm gonna be tempted to post some random doodles again lol...

Gimme that Jigglypuff pin aaaaaaaahhh 😍
So the Tales of The Rays twitter account posted a preview of Kanonno Grassvalley's dMA artwork.
The descender looks so bland there. You can get a glimpse of the descender if you look closely behind Kanonno Grassvalley's 3D model pic. The descender seems to be a guy... kinda...
The funny thing about the outfit is that dMAs show the final battle. The descender is literally wearing a starter outfit. Let that sink in for a moment and see my explanation below...
Meanwhile, my descender design for my RM3 game looks like this...
Sorry for the incoming rant. I'm just a HUGE fan of the Radiant Mythology Series, and I also believe that the descender is a special character in such a way that he/she stands as the player's (us) representation in the Tales universe. And the pic of the descender in the dMA art is just... hilarious... if you know the game mechanics.
Rays, WHY THE HECK DOES THE DMA ART HAVE THE DESCENDER'S TRASH TIER DEFAULT ORANGE EQUIP? LIKE GEEZ DO YOU GUYS REALLY HATE THE DESCENDER THAT MUCH?! The pic is a boss battle and the descender wouldn't last 5 seconds with just that equip. Why not just give them the Radiant Equip set or something... cooler. Not THIS junk outfit... Geez, did the one who design the dMA art even played Radiant Mythology?!
In other words: THIS IS A FREAKING DMA, A SHOT OF THE FINAL BATTLE IN THE GAME AND THE DESCENDER IS WEARING THEIR WEAK STARTING EQUIP. LOL WTF BAMCO!!!
So a lot happened in my Terraria playthrough for the past few days...
I've tried finishing up my base but there's waaaaaay too much going on like Blood Moons and Goblin Armies coming O_o
The NPCs managed to be really helpful for the Goblin Army Invasion though, battle-wise. I swear this is one of my most fave features for 1.3 ever! I remember years ago that I was surprised that in the PC version NPCs can fight, but got stumped that in the android version they can't. But now they can and it was good as I expected :3
I also figured that my character should be decent enough for venturing the dungeons and breaking shadow orbs despite the risk being ambushed by a giant worm.
I forgot that you can't step on meteorite blocks by the way lmao.
Oh great ANOTHER Goblin Army. But since I've also finished up the main, NPC housing part of my base, I have my own party too AND I can test out my newly crafted Space Gun to boot ;)
The Merchant coming over was in great timing lol.
Well, at least my main housing area of the base is complete. I'll start refining the top part of the base probably after exploring the world some more.
Till next time then!
PS: A lot happened in this post since I was ill for the past few days so I got to play a lot recently heheh... :)
I recently started playing Idolmaster Cinderella Girls Starlight Stage (geez it's a mouthful so I'll just use Deresute to refer to it in short onwards).
It's adorable. Period. I love it. This is what they literally call eye candy. Just looking at the visuals in this game make me want to get my drawing tools and doodle cute stuff while being inspired by what I'm seeing :)
It's a gacha game with a rhythm game in its core. However, the good thing is that characters can be acquired by completing songs. And this game has LOADS of characters and my gosh they're just so CUTE!!! Oh and it's obviously not pay to win because it's a freaking rhythm game unless you like getting high scores and want units with high score multipliers, which I don't care about cause I kinda suck in rhythm games anyway but I still play them because I love cute costumes and music.
I ended up really liking this girl with wheat-colored hair with twin ponytails. I'm sorry I dunno their names yet aside from Uzuki, Ranko and Haruka because of Rays...
I also like this girl with cute white, short hair I think Bamco knows I have a thing for girls with whitish hair and kuuderes.
The costumes are also very cute!
These girls are basically my main unit right now. But I love the other girls too.
In this game you can get new characters by clearing songs. For example, the screenshot above shows me getting Ranko and a cute girl with odango hair as drops after clearing a song.
Glad my phone can handle the 3D graphics quite well. Though I should also mention that the game has also 2D mode. That's actually a nice touch IMO, it means that a lot of people with varying phone specs can play the game one way or another.
There's also a room feature as well. You can choose what furniture and decor to place.
I'm quite surprised about how I didn't bother playing this game until now. I've always had it in my JP playstore library but didn't actually bother playing it till now. Well, at least I finally got to try it now. Better late than never I guess :)
Pokemon Sun & Moon Sleeping Plushies released by the Pokemon Center
You die, and your favorite character is waiting for you on the other side. Turns out they heard everything you’ve ever “told” them: your secrets, random thoughts meant for them, how they’ve helped you, their words you referenced daily… And that you’re in love with them.
But I ship her with someone else, that'll be sooooo awkward lmaoooo 😅
My base in Terraria is coming along pretty nicely. I've finally had an idea of my base design because my base right now is... a box.
I'm making a giant treehouse. But yeaaaaah... this is gonna take a while. The leaves on the top is a nightmare to make. But I have my magic carpet handy for crossing gaps for this.
I've made the "roots" of the tree to have some rooms where I can have my NPCs move about freely and chill. They're fun to see interact with one another.
It would probably be amusing to see how this'll progress as time passes.
...aaaand the Arms Dealer moved in MY ROOM. Glad I can kick him out using the Housing Menu mwahahaha!!!
Till next time! I'll be posting my base progress again after I've made significant updates. Gonna be busy for a while so I may not be able to post about my playthrough for a while :)
